Rogark’s Enchanted Rune Hammer
Enchanted Rune Hammer
Description
Before the trial of Immel at Cornwalds, Krom, Cornwald and Wenheart created a hammer with some minor help from the Mage Artificer Ihjahl. The hammer is made through new, modern magic which makes it frail and not as stable as older magical artifacts. It is still invested with lot of power and with Wenhearts help, a lot of mystical attributes.
The hammer is cylindrical and made with three sections. The middle section – that also holds the base and the shaft for the hammer – is smaller than the edge sections which is larger. The middle cylinder is more of a rounded quadrant that has four different runes, one for each base element. The sizes of the edge cylinders are different. There are a big cylinder with three distinct sides and shaped like a rounded triangle. It has three different complex dual composite runes of dwarven character. The third and last cylinder has twelve sides and thus also twelve set of runes. These runes are of quadrant complexity meaning that it’s essentially four runes, merged within each other to build one rune, they seem more elven or demonic. The last cylinder is almost completely round compared to the others. What makes them all cylinders are that they are possible to spin and shift so you can align the runes at the top for a specific setting.
The shaft is of an angular but unnatural nature. It seems hard and uncomfortable but when Rogark grips the long shaft it shapes itself after his hand and it’s almost as if his stone hand is partly merged to it, making the hammer fit and be very hard to loose during combat without Rogarks will. The downside though is that it takes time (1p) to release the hammer.
The three cylinders are possible to align for different effects. Rogark can charge a spell in the hammer, and then release it on impact, or he can adjust the cylinders so the impact effect already is set. The benefit of adjusting the hammer to a specific setting is that less energy is needed from Rogark. Downside to that though is that it’s slow and kind of obvious.
Apart from its magical effects it’s a heavy weapon with large damage. It’s also attuned by enchantment to Rogark, so nobody other than Rogark can wield it with it’s full strength. For most other people it’s heavy and more a block of stone than a weapon.

Possible to pre-charge if needed. This is a special effect possible to do if one knows the Runic Word needed to trigger the spell. Rogark knows, and can do it. When triggered the hammer will automatically charge the spell with help from Rogarks marchon. Rogark can will the spell to remain dormant until he strikes down the shaft into the ground. It does not discriminate from friend or foe, only Rogark is unaffected.
Weapon Settings
The three cylinders are possible to adjust by hand or by mind. If adjusting them by hand, you are presetting the hammer so it will automatically release the desired effect when striking with either end of the hammer.
When using the mind to adjust the cylinders Rogark essentially uses the hammer as a tool to project spells or elements faster and or longer than usually possible. When he does it with the mind the cylinders will spin according to his mind, making it possible for people with good observational skills to see what Rogark have in mind.
First Cylinder – Shape (Triangle)
This cylinders function is to determine shape of the spell function during activation. These shapes are available;
- Ring
When striking the ground, a ring of the chosen element will appear 1 to 3 hexes from the impact ground. What happens after that determines by the function. - Sphere
When striking the ground, a sphere of the chosen element will appear 2 two 6 hexes from the impact ground. Exactly how determines by the function. - Way
When striking the ground, a way of the chosen element will appear 1 to 3 hexes wide and moving forward with the speed of 1 to 3 per action to the range of maximum 12+MCH (LvL) hexes. Has limited functionality.
Second Cylinder – Element (Quadrant)
This cylinder only determines the one element which the presetting will use. If necessary it can enhance the main element of a custom cast spell or act as conduit for another spell. Much requires Rogark to practice the more advanced functions though. It only contains the four base elements.
Third Cylinder – Function (Dodecagon)
This cylinder determines the function of the whole spell. Just as regular elemental spellcasting each element either holds it’s primary function or has a new function added to it. It is possible to leave out functions if needed.
All the functions are paired two, and two. They will there fore come in their straight and reversed form. First pair is;
- Exploding
The shape will explode with the element. If making a sphere the explosion will affect Rogark as well. - Imploding
The shape will collapse into itself in a implosion. If making a sphere the implosion will mostly affect Rogark and those around him. - Spinning
The shape will spin in various ways. When making a spinning air way, it will become an Air Horn or Air Cone. This is the only way to use the shape Way with the element Air. When making a spinning water way, it will become a circular pool around the feet of Rogark. - Shielding
The shield function can also be called stilling or freezing. It will stop the shape and elements all movements. In most cases this causes the element to act as a shield, barrier or hindrance. It can be used against weather with the element Air and the shape Sphere. Only snag is that air will run out eventually within an Air Sphere erected in this way. - Expanding
The shape will expand outward. If it’s a sphere it will burst and dissipate quite quickly. This function is most useful with ring, and is necessary for the shape Way to move forward. - Shrinking
The function shrinking is useless with the shape Way. Can be used to crush things or bind them temporarily with elemental bonds. - Erecting
The function will rise the element in it’s shape or just draw up the element. An Erecting Way will rather be something like a slope or wall. - Subsiding
Subesiding is a way to submerge, or decrease with the shape. It will often cause the shape to work downward or to separate things. - Manifesting
Manifests a physical form of the elemental shape. Its durability depends on the element and the elements in which it was placed. - Dispersing
Will destroy or separate the elemental particles that comes into contact with it. A Dispersing Way will be more like a downward slope or a hole. - Enveloping
Envelops the target with the shape. A ring will be attached to the targets movements and thus move around with him. - Divulge
Like expanding this will make the shape dissipate quickly. A sphere though will divulge the elemental particles as a counter rather than thin out itself to nothingness.
Aid to Spellcasting
When using it as an aid, Rogark can only use one of the three cylinders.
Shape
Will make it possible to cast the spell from anywhere within the shape or have it sprout everywhere within or at the border of the shape.
Element
It will enhance the elements power by one rank, making it more powerful. OR it will decrease the cost of casting the spell.
Function
Adding a function will somewhat change the spell. You cast the spell through the function, but you might also change the effect of the spell.
I must say that making things like this look good on WordPress is impossible. The document which I’ve written out for Rasmus is far better.
Easier to view with double columns and less spacing. Well, well… any questions about this powerful weapon post them here.
