Game Night

Since Rasmus was sick and the session was cancelled I decided in the last minute to try to have a game night with boardgames instead…

But due to the fact that Daniel was too lazy and Ankan didn’t feel up for it the only one remaining in the group was PB. First it was planned for Louise to join too but due to different reasons this didn’t happen. But David Johansson joined the evening and we started with Munchkin Quest. I must say that that session was probably the best Munchkin Quest session I’ve ever played and the smoothest too. Even so it was a little bit too long. In the end it took a little too long I think but even so it was the best time ever and we almost used all the dungeon tiles avaible. There was only one tile left when I managed to win. One of the things that make this round interesting is that almost everyone was close to winning at some point towards the end.

After this we started to play Arkham Horror but not long into this I forfeited since I had eaten too little and was too tired to play. Instead we decided to play the next day. This tough did not turn out as planned. Arkham is a fun game I think, but it too has flaws. But I need to learn it more and play it to discover them. Like in Munchkin Quest I am constructing House Rules, that are mostly additions to the original rules. I’m almost clear on what I want to add now, maybe one more try before I decide and write them. Some of the rules I’m thinking of is needed and others might be more optional. But this always happens when I play board games or any game at all. Some flaws that I consider great due to the fact that it kind of ruins the game, I always want to patch. Some flaws are more personal and I can live without it while some certain flaws just ruins the game in my opinion. Like Lasers in Star Munchkin. With only a minor luck streak one could easily have a weapon of plus 20 or more. Not balanced at all. No… I can’t stand some flaws even though they can benefit me. I like rules to my games, even though I like them to be bendable too.

Anyhow, it was fun. Too bad though since I think most of the group was very pepped for the resolution of this section of the campaign. Now we’ll just have to hope that the high spirits is with us on Wednesday as well.
