I see the myths are back…
Or at least I started rewriting a year ago from now. Maybe I should try to finish the last two chapters this year instead so it at least can have some kind closure on that part.
The base history of Nianze. The founding history which actually, in truth will be considered the forgotten histories if my game is ever finished. I might have told a few about this idea, well, I know I’ve spoken about it with Henriksson, Foppa and PB at least.
When I first envisioned the “New Nianze” now 6 years back I had one single vision of what I wanted my new world to be. This might be a little spoilerish but most of this should already have been apparent for most of my players I think.
Well, the first vision of Nianze was about armies. Vast, great armies driven by three powerful ideals. One of magic, one of aruhun and one of darkness. These armies are gathering on three ridges. Great ridges. And they are gathering for ages it seems. The men already there just stand still and wait. And the recruits gather in the back. Over this soon-to-be battlefield there are two powers two opposing gods, spuring the battle. And then, after ages of waiting and gathering, they clash. An epic battle of enormous proportions start and each skirmish ends with one winner. Armies withdraw, regroup, gather more, tries new tactics and they strike again, and again, three times they strike… and then it’s over. And then… the final battle, the battle they have battled to battle for comes down upon them. If they don’t battle, they are doomed, they need to battle and only one can remain. If not, then the Power of Nianze will never be achieved.
When I then started to make a new world out of this, because the old world was unrealistic and bothersome, I started to mold a new world and a more serious world out of my ideas. I just made it and created it and I my vision grew more complex and greater. Times and time again I changed things and still are. But in the end I knew that when this game was over… the aftermath would be the real game. So everything after that great battle would be Nianze. Everything before… is not Nianze. It is the struggle for Nianze. So the myths are actually a background to a background to the real World of Nianze. Because if I ever finish Nianze, the apocalypse have come and went. And that will be what will determine the shape of the final product of Nianze.
The history we’ve been creating is actually just a base for the future of Nianze. To have a real solid history. So the myths will be really myths later and not so close to you and your character that you can actually feel it and see the effects.
Well, just thought I would shed some light on the matter and not just post a lame notice. Even so, I doubt there are many people reading the RPG-blog posts anymore. No, Nianze will either become a series of books or just some forgotten case in the future. For now it’s just a game building to work itself up and I’m Herid, collecting stories for the aftermath. It will soon though become mostly stories I’m afraid even though it might be a year or five into the future. I doubt interest will rise in Nianze and I’m not sure I even want to try to find more interested in my world anymore.
Well, well, hopefully I’ll start writing on the re-write of the last chapters of the myths anyway.
Well, It would be nice to finally read the last chapters of the myths in the rewritten version.
” I doubt interest will rise in Nianze and I’m not sure I even want to try to find more interested in my world anymore.” – Well, I dont know about that, if you dont want to find other players well I guess thats your beef, but atleast I think it was interesting to start “replaying” the history and get a chance to explore other sides of the main events or totally new things.
