Troubles of a Vampire
It’s progressing slowly with The Eye I’m afraid. It’s not easy to push up the speed when the game is focused around fighting. I think that it would have made little if any difference if the battle had been completely social. At least time wise. Next time though I will try to play it all in my head and you will have to be more descriptive in your fighting.
PB complains about Blood, thus I must naturally think it over even though I’ve considered and re-considered things before. My new conclusions are what follow.
Many abilities don’t cost much, such as Blood Regeneration and Battle Strength. But many of the more heavy abilities cost blood in a bigger number ranging from 1 to maximum 10. Things such as Blood Weapon, Battle Claws, Battle Fangs and most enhancing abilities are quite cheap since their duration and obvious benefits are quite big.
I’ve seen though that some things doesn’t work on this closer review even though my conclusions about the abilities and their cost is quite alright. The thing that doesn’t fit though is the loss of stamina. Vampires will have stamina, though durability will also affect stamina, as will many vampiric abilities.
All vampires will have to use Stamina, but unlike normal people their stamina will not affect their FOR and PHY and they will not become unconscious or tired and winded when out of Stamina. Their stamina though will also regenerate every phase as if they were light resting. Abilities will increase their stamina regeneration as well.
A young vampire has many problems with power and such, but is all in all a more powerful creature than its human self. With time a vampire will naturally grow stronger and more powerful. Even though they need to hone their skills like normal people they will still have an advantage with no age decreasing changes such as in their aptitude or physical strengths. Most, but not all regular vampiric abilities are possible to use as young as 4-5 months (where most vampires get their teeth). Some abilities though are impossible to use for several dark reasons. But as you might have learned in ADL, everything in the vampiric society has at least one exception.
The only thing im concered about is Blood cost vs balance of the ability vs how fast you can recover BP. I mean some abilities that I have seen so far is cheap and pretty okayish, although I think some of them have pretty steep costs. and yes these abilities are good and very powerful atleast most of them are.
And if you consider the ingame perspective its all fine and dandy, but when it comes to the system its very hard to recover BP for example when you are a young vampire considering you need to drain a human dry to gain 1-2 BP and if abilities costs 1-10 BP that can be very troublesome to recover in an decent amount of time(depending on situation of course), but in the current scenario im very glad to have atleast 30 extra BP with me since I was drained of BP under 3hours in-game time.
I’ve already considered this from in-game and out of game perspectives. It is as it should be. Most of your losses though is through bad luck and unskilled use of blood. And when it comes to precuring blood, I know a young vampire such as someone below one year, it isn’t much per victim, but then again blood is in the vampiric society bought and victims are meant to terrorize and transmutate as well as decrease hunger. And since you gain more BP by keeping your humans alive this is a lot more efficient.
No, everything is at it should be. You only are young, have a high appetite and aren’t allowed to feed on others yet. When you can feed on others and have more reserves within your body you will see that your blood isn’t that horrible. The thing you need to be careful about though is getting bleeding damage…
In short, being a vampire at the beginning IS hard since using vampiric abilities drain you fast. But that IS the point. The older you get, the better you get. Transmutations are king, and abilities are aid. Older vampires (+10) might be capable of only battle with blood. But no vampire can keep that up for long without many reserves and many long lasting abilities.
