Tatsuo’s Desertion

Well, in one point of view you’ve just had your first casualty… before you even reached the graveyard. Daniel chose to desert instead of following the group through Marlug and thus still have his empathy intact but also be severely punished.

This will change things somewhat even though I can se several possible ways for this to work. It all depends on whatever you survive or not. Even so a jump would be the best from Daniel’s point of view, about a year into the future. This jump though will most likely be a quick jump for better or worse.

Tatsuo will gain the unhandy title of Tatsuo the Deserter for about a year and a half after his desertion. He will also be forced to take a grave punishment. He can choose to be beheaded but I don’t think Tatsuo wants this so he’ll probably chose the lesser punishments which will be several lashes on his back plus a short reprimand service period. Well, anyhow more about this when the time comes.

He will also, when he returns to duty have a decreased rank and will most likely have gained a bad reputation for being a deserter, coward and people will dislike him and even be mean to him. It will be a setback for Tatsuo but it will also bring some interesting and fun opportunities for the story and development of the character as well as the group.

In any case it should mean that you’ll all need to jump. For Kakil this should only be positive and for the rest I’ll try to give you good things from this if or when it happens. But most likely you will receive a boost in the direction of which your characters are striving for. A quick thing, not many choices and not many options but I will sum it up and so on.

Anyhow, we’ll have to see what happens and hopefully everything will continue as planned and Tatsuo/Daniel won’t regret their choice to desert. Well, tragic anyway…
