The Property Reduction
Well, as earlier stated I will reduce properties. After some thought to it I’ve decided that this will probably be the only properties I’ll remove completely.
IN this case though it’s much of combining properties. Even so a lot will have to change. To begin with I need to revise the setup for the bonuses for specialities and I also need to revise all modifications from race to age. I will have to look over skills and also how the formulas for getting some values is to be written and so on.
The properties is as stated the following (in the same order as the sheet);
Physical
Charisma – This property will be completely removed and only be left as a character description thing plus a skill. So characters such as Souichirou has a fierce Aura and most likely a high kinesics but not necessarily since kinesics is the ability to have many different auras which Souichirou didn’t have. He mostly just was angry, or deadly. Luckily enough this skill actually doesn’t change much in the system itself.
Constitution – This property a more tricky one to change. Even so I’m not completely removing it but mostly merging it with Physique. The removal of this skill though will most likely remove the Physical Recovery line and its additional percentage to Physical Stress as well. Your healing rates will probably be determined by your CC instead.
Mental
Awareness – Awareness was a property mostly meant for a translator of what you saw and what your subconscious saw as well as your eyes for details. In essence though Cognition was the property who often determined how hard it was to use your awareness or not so well, Awareness will be mostly a trait plus the skill Observation.
Creativity – This determined your actions before as well as some other stuff. Well, from now on I will merge it will Wits to make the skills more connected and also give Wits a higher value. Actions though might still be based on this value but I also have a sinister idea of using APT there instead.
With these properties gone I will also have to reduce the points one start with and so on. The base points of 60 will go down to 50, even though the number won’t be as perfect as before that is the closest to it. The bonus points will also go down, even though I’m not sure right now, but most likely 30. This though will decrease the average in most skills and make the property selection a bit trickier when making a character. The put though will still be 12.
Well, I’ll be starting to work out the changes this week and when I’m finished with these changes we might start translating characters.
Well, I dont know if I like some of these upcoming changes, some are sensible(or I guess most are from a certain point of view).
Charisma – a stat I will miss kind of, since I think its a good modifier and it can be used alot if you just know how. Also it is good if you just want to do some quick rolls to see if you succeed or not. As for how much it will affect the game mechanics I guess it wont do that as much, I know some skills do have CHA as a base.
Constitution – well this one is the most sensible I guess, but also one that will affect alot of things. But I dont really see why you would have to remove the physical recovery line because of this change, since it would be the same anyhow? As for how much you recover to be based on CC I guess its an ok substitute if its balanced against normal characters.
Awareness – Also a pro I think is a pretty sensible reduction since cog can work just aswell, other than that I dont have much to say about awareness.
Creativity – Well, merging it with WIT is probably a good thing since it will make WIT abit more interesting and less “just for knowledges” property. Although I dont see how you can even consider on using APT for actions in my opinion it will make apt even more desirable which is bad considering its limitations for advancement which will mean that there will probably be more mr.static 12 apt guys around, nope I really dont like it. Rather see actions go to WIT aswell then.
As for the general reduction on how much starting points someone starts with well, I dont know if my calculations were correct but it felt kind of low if you made a pure mr.average.(counting with nations,age,specialization, base 3 in all the pros then 50+30).
In overall I guess most changes are reasonable just that I will miss some of them.
The reason to remove this is simple. It would make the same property count twice for the same kind of bonus. I won’t have this thus I’ll remove it.
Well, you are narrow minded once again. The reason to use APT is plentiful even though it will have serious drawbacks.
To begin with you assume that including APT would require it to be level based. This was not what I had in mind. I was thinking about something more sinister than that.
Maybe it will become WIT, but right now APT has the right limitations as well as other requirements for this skill. We’ll see what I’ll do. But right now I see more for than against. And you don’t really make up a good reason why not either.
Minimum 3×12 = 36 (old 48)
Base +50 = 86 (average is now is 7, as it was before)
Bonus +30 = 116 (average is now 9,66, it was 9,25…)
This is the only thing which matters. The rest; speciality, nations, age and race is not of any concern since this will be about the same as before and will still only modify skills as it usually is. Thus the average or the properties will not be modified by this.
In my book this will not affect anything in a bad way other than you’ll have to rethink and re evaluate your choices and patterns.
