Server Upgrades

Finally the HDDs has arrived!

And not a day too late I must say. I was starting to get very frustrated by the fact that I barely have any space to even download simple episodes but must erase and move things here and there in a game of Shuffle Data.

Well, I discovered that my solution of how to fix the server without buying a new CPU had led me to a motherboard with only four SATA-contacts. Three of them were occupied. Two, for my 1 TB disks which have been the server up until now and one for my home-drive of 250 GB. I didn’t even know that I had a SATA-disk of 250 GB but obviously I had.

Well, the second disk is right now in my main computer, Brémo but will be transferred to the server as soon I’ve gotten myself a controller card or changed motherboard which will be quite a huge project since I’ll need to buy a new CPU as well. Anyway, for the moment it works and I will most likely buy that controller card soon from Dustin as usual. I’ve now uploaded about 200 GB of data that’s been waiting on my computer for upload and finally I can breathe again and start downloading for real once again.

I am very tempted though to upgrade some more in my computer system. Maybe a new monitor, which I’ve been wanting for quite some time since this one is actually too small to work with. Or not too small, but just on the limit of tolorable. I want to see more when I work for real. Plus this screen is VGA and not DVI which have disturbed me greatly. I’m also thinking about changing my wtireless internet card in my server so that it will become more powerful for the sake of my phone and my computer. Maybe it will be possible to work outside with better card.

Though that brings me to the subject of a new laptop. Linsuss actually works, only that she is quite stationary right now. She can be without power from an outlet but when she reaches about 40-50% she shuts down. Plus most graphical applications except movies makes her shut down as well if you run them for too long. She can’t keep herself cool thus she’s overheated and must shut down to protect herself.

I’ve been looking on several PC’s and if I write a project application including this as a material expense and making it valid too with more material expenses I might be able to get about 50-70% back on the purchase. Which will make it easier to pick a computer. I’ve found a 13,3″ computer which is perfect for my needs. Only downside, it’s red. But everything else is perfect. But if we get 50 just 50% off I might buy a Mac instead since I know that a computer like that will not only work, but it will put out a great quality for a long time too. Also I like Mac a lot more. I think I’ll try to do this. I so want a Mac.
