To teach a cat not to yowl…
Isn’t easy I must admit. Junjun’s early morning yowl and the yowls he performs during sessions are beginning to get on my nerves. I’ve thus started the few couple of days to mark this as a not acceptable thing by seeking him up instantly when he yowls for no good reason other than to complain that indoors isn’t outdoors, and snap him on the nose.
Its working I feel now even though he sometimes does it when he knows I’m in another room and instantly stops when I move to intercept him. Today, as a reward for him showing that he actually has started to understand that he shouldn’t yowl, I brought him out for about an hour.
We met another cat on our stroll outside, this cat though highly disliked the idea of meeting another cat and only hissed and yowled herself in discontent over the fact that another cat was close to her. Junjun though was scared to death by this cat’s yowling and stood petrified with a brush tail between his legs. It was first after we (the owner of respective cats) decided that she wouldn’t change her mind and they lifted her up that Junjun pleaded to her in a meek meow and then wanted to follow her home, but to no avail.
Well, well… yowling is not accepted, and I think that Junjun is slowly realizing this. So hopefully he won’t yowl as much during sessions and if he is good, I’ll take him outside more.
Best Regards,
Herid Fel
