The Eye – Status

Just wanted to write a little about the current group, nothing too fancy just some thoughts as well as a status update about what we can expect in the upcoming sessions.

Things are going okay right now I think. Game-wise at least, in-game though seems to be another matter. Even so I think that you’re getting a better grip on your character even though it’s still weak. But I’m certain it will grow with time. Especially if you get to Cadet-status.

This though brings me to an immediate concern in the group1; your initiation quest. Ankan and Rokash were very close to succeeding and actually just took the wrong turn where he could have won his Cadet rank. Foppa and Elizabeth though seem to be very slow going even though some slow progress is made. Junior and Jens have found the probable lair of the Tyniker though he still has the hard part infront of him. Danne and Tatsuo though seem to be in very deep water I’m afraid. I have a hard time seeing how Tatsuo with a sprained ankle can manage to find the others and defeat them in time.

This though is only interesting. The problem though is that if you should fail – any of you – then we’ll be set back a little group-wise. I don’t really know how to deal with this but if Tatsuo for instance should fail once again he could (and should) be banished from The Eye for 3 months and deemed not fit for duty within The Eye until he’s honed the skills he’s gravely lacking in.

The alternative there would be divided testing and coaching from Robin which will be his next option since he won’t be able to take his initiate quest again after this. If he fails the divided tests even with the coaching from Robin he’ll be banished. This though is not preferable since that would eliminate Tatsuo. I will then add some event to somehow change this or give an alternative to this. We’ll see how this will be solved.

Anyhow, I can also give you all the opportunity to after you’ve all completed the current Initiate Quest just skip forward in time with a storytelling where you’ll finally managed to get your Cadet rank with many ifs and buts. In this scenario you won’t have anything spectacular or noteworthy on in your books from your initiate quest. I can actually give you the possibility to do this now and start with your first cadet training next session. Doesn’t really matter to me, the cadet training though will be more interesting and provide more social opportunities to get to know your characters and the compound more.

What do you say about all this? Plus, do you have any request for the group? This is a free open group but it will have a consistency and some storylines to make it interesting. I’m also thinking about giving the group two regular sessions a week if the interest is there.

Well, well… time to work some on ADS.

Best Regards,
Herid Fel

I definitely agree with you that things could be going better, and I too have trouble seeing how Tatsuo could possibly succeed as things stand. Of course I don’t want Tatsuo to be eliminated and I’ve been thinking about what I would do if the fail-spree continued and he did end up thrown out. The only answer I came up with is that I really don’t want that 😛

So, I for one would like to go with the last alternative you mentioned; completeing the initiate quest (or just summing up) and then skipping forward.

As for requests, I don’t have any concrete things I would like to see happend but one thing I’d like is a higher pace of character developement. By this I mean the technical bit; opportunities to increase STG and skills/stats/whatnot. It’s usually not something that happends very often and usually mainly just through the slow trickle of perf or crit AP accumulating.

Oh and, I vote yes for the two sessions a week upgrade.

Well, about the part of skipping the initiate quest I will leave that decision to the people that actually are doing that quest at the moment, just feels abit meh for us(me) that have earned the cadet status the “hard” way =P, but as a whole it doesnt matter for me.

As for request to the group im kind of leaning towards the same way as Daniel, but still retaining the social parts of course. Other than that I would like some hmm lets call it “old-school” adventuring, dungeons, mystical places, finding mystical objects maybe and so forth.

Also as for missions I would like to see more assignment missions(those were the ones you went out and could be away from the eye compound awhile, correct?) than quests(or what the other type was called), I guess this kind of assignment type missions feels abit more adventurous which kinda brings be to the earlier request. But I would of course like a mixture aswell, trying out different aspects of being in the eye.

And well, as for sessions im always game for moar.

It feels like I’m close to succeding with my quest, just need a little bit more time. But I also think it would be a good idea to get this over with. It is getting a bit tiresome.

If everyone agrees to move forward, I’ll do that too so that we can move on to the next part. You were talking about “many ifs and buts”, will this result in a long sequence of fails and such and result in the same thing as for Tatsuo, or simply a story telling success on the current mission? If the former, I’ll probably want a shot at the current quest.

Nothing more to add to the list of requests right now.

Well, unlike you they won’t have any outstanding efforts in their record which you have. That is a positive thing they’ll miss.

In any case we’ll see how it goes and what people say tonight.

As for character progress it will certainly be more of that once you get to Cadet or Solider where the freedom lies. Not that it will be much freedom per se, The Eye is still a military organization. But since it’s also an organization where you are to strive for different goals you’ll be able to have your own objectives and improve for the good of all.

As for “old school” adventuring you’ll have to seek them out. Adventures like that might occur during regular missions and quests. Otherwise if you give me more details about your request I might be able to make it happen by putting you in those situations.

It won’t be as Tatsuo. That is actually really not good for your Record in The Eye. We’ll leave out the details if it was this or another quest you succeed with and only say that you’ll passed it without any comments or things out of the ordinary.

  6. Patrik says:

Well, what I meant with old school adventuring it was more the random factor that sometimes occurred, I know that those times were probably improvised from your side but sometimes its a fun with a bit random factor, and not just static missions if you get my meaning.

As for any specific, no I dont really have anything in particular, just that sometimes it can be fun with abit of the unexpected I guess.

Well, I’m up for jumping forward, though it would mean I’ve actually not even played a quest. All things considered it do seem the best alternative. About requests “I can’t think of anything”.

Did you miss the session or did ju just ignore it?

    I missed it.

    I missed it.

That’s funny. I sent you an SMS, as to everybody else yesterday. I wrote it in a post and I put in the Events Calendar and also I have a Tweet about it on the sidebar. Four places and you still missed it… amazing.
