Characters for ADS

I want a status update on the characters and who are to participate. Two people are enough so the campaign will be played, no worry for that.

As earlier stated I want the characters finished this Sunday and with finished I mean I want your Character Creation Sheets as well as the brief summary of the questions I asked of you. And I need a decision NOW from Danne about if he thinks he’s capable of playing Ronald the Rat and wants to do so. Otherwise I want to know who wants to participate and to know your progress of your characters.

As an answer to PB I’m not asking for an elaborate story of what you’ve spent your past 22 years doing. Rather I want to know the motivation for the character to be on the boat, some personal stuff but much of the past history of the character isn’t much of interest right now. And as far as I can see you have basically covered most of that already.

Remember though that I want more of personality which I want to be a little bit… different and kind of noteworthy with character traits which makes everyone special in their own small ways. You are playing aspiring heroes and heroes’ needs to have a strong character. Everything you’ll leave I will fill in to make it suit the campaign.

I might try to do a Short Story tied to the campaign but we’ll see about that since it will require more time and energy that it might be worth. Otherwise I have a basic thought to have a short story tied to the sessions like in ADL, but that’s just an idea I have.

Well, well…

I’ve been trying to come up with something cool for me to play but I’m having a bit of a dry spell. I’ve decided that I do not want to play Ronald at least.

Rather I will go with the dwarf I mentioned earlier, I don’t have much of a character there at the moment really but it will be a dwarven warrior with the regeneration racial that fights with two handed maces, and I’m thinking I’ll go with berserk.

I’ve got a few ‘ideas’ for personality and quirks, but it’s mostly just little details. I’ll try to write something up, but I really need to study for the exam on Monday.

I will skip the session on Sunday after all, need to get up early on Monday and I will probably not be able to study enough as it is.

    A few questions about dwarves:

What eye and hair colors do they typically have?

How tall is a typical dwarf?

What is the general philosophy of the dwarves of Lantor? (Religious or whatever you want to call it)

  3. Herid Fel says:

If you are from Lantor it’s varied. Dwarfs there have all the natural colours on their hair. An exception though would be blond. Blond Dwarves are rare. Most common is Brown or natural shades of red for dwarves.

You are exceedingly young for a dwarf in this campaign so I don’t really know what the philosophy has do to with this character really. Dwarves has many beliefs but if you just want to know which Phisosophy they generally follows then it’s The Way of Balance or The Way of Light.

And philosophy is right, religion in Nianze is viewed as a bad thing since it’s superstitious believes in non-acknowledged beings and spirits which might as well be demons or just some mumbo jumbo.

Ok, is it alright if I’m one of the rare blond dwarves then? That’s one way in which the character can stick out.

Yes this is what I was after, and young or not you’ve still been exposed to some kind of beliefs.

I see you ignored or missed my question about length, this isn’t really important for the character but I wanted to know for reference.

    You do that yes.

I missed your question about length. A dwarf is around 130-160cm. Young as you are you shouldn’t be longer than 145cm. You are still growing. (Dwarfs are slow growing in the beginning of their lives)

By the way, if you are a blond Dwarf, you will be hated by other Dwarves from Lantor, not Dwarves from other places though, or at least not as much…

In any case that won’t be too apparent in this campaign I think.

  7. Daniel says:

What kind of names do dwarves have?

  8. Daniel says:

Hated? Well that might just be a good reason for my dwarf to leave the country then.

Why is that though? Some kind of superstition?

  9. Herid Fel says:

What kind of names do dwarves have?

Stonelike names, or similar to stones and different kinds of rock. But also hard sounding names with hard letters like K, D, G, V. And also Dwarven like names, as general dwarves in other fantasy games.

Because of your betrayal of leaving your country. So it’s not a reason to leave, but the result of you leaving.

Huh, I’m confused… What’s being blond got to do with leaving the country?

I got a good name I think I’ll reuse: Ghan.

Not really relevant to the campaign I think but Dwarves with blond hair are called “Gold Dwarves” and are meant to be a part of the High Nobles of the Dwarves and control their Cast. They are revered like encaged dolls or figurines ,or whatever you might call them, of power for the house they belong to.

  13. Daniel says:

I see, this is something to work with.

I was thinking of making the character a “free spirit”, liking personal freedom a lot. Being put on a pedestal and not allowed to do what he wants would be quite suffocating to that character I’d imagine, and could easily lead to what I had in mind.

Okies. Well, this is the least important part of the character though, so I hope you have something more?

  15. Daniel says:

    Are you happy with this?

Ghan is a young dwarf of average height and a bulky, muscular build with tanned skin and sun bleached blond hair. The hair is kept tied up in a tail at the nape of the neck and the beard is trimmed and well cared for in a practical yet presentable fashion. He has bright blue eyes and a clean, spotless face with a slightly pointed nose.

What drove Ghan to a life at sea is a strong desire for freedom, he wants to see the world and experience new things not live out his days in just one place. Currently his goal is to make a new life for himself, and as he wants to see the world living as a sailor for a while seemed like a good idea.

Even though he abandoned his people Ghan is a reliable individual that cares about his friends and family. He is quite open-minded and has few reservations, “he will try anything once”. Another noteworthy trait of Ghan is his optimism; he does have bad days but tends to be positive most of the time. What he likes to do on his free time is gambling, fishing or just sharing stories over good drink.

  16. Herid Fel says:

    Are you happy with this?

Fairly yes, but you don’t have any strong dislikes or other similar negativities. You can leave it at this if you want, but I will give you something in that case.

  17. Patrik says:

Well, I put together atleast a first revision and I gambled with the name, I hope its ok otherwise I will change.

Lainathiel is a pretty young elf, with green eyes and a long dark brown hair that is usually put up in a ponytail fashion. She has a slender yet athletic body and the typical elven grace that is so famous.

Lainathiel had always been longing for the sea and adventure in her younger years which made her choice easy after her training as an archer, she wanted on a boat, no matter where or what that boat was heading out to do.

Lainathiel can come of as a pretty stubborn elf when she puts her mind to it, but is sometimes easily distracted from her stubbornness if something more interesting is happening around her. She also has a flamboyant persona especially when it comes to showing off with her archery skills and can sometimes make some really crazy bets with persons that disbelieve her skill. Otherwise she can pretty much be a kind and caring person with a big heart for her true friends.

Well im pretty much open for change if there is something that is totally out there and not suiting with the campaign and such.
