A Dark Sea

Captain Ronald One-Eye is a hero of renowned status all over the shores of the Norrath Pace. His ship is a ship of wonders and mystery and his crew is the happiest, weirdest, open-minded and easy going bunch of seamen one could ever find on the waters.

But Ronald wasn’t always Captain, Ronald didn’t always have just one eye, and Ronald didn’t have his crew and possessed all the wonders he now have. And it all began with Ronald the Deckhand, Ronald the Rat, Ronald the Small, Ronald the puny young man without ambition when the ship he sailed on – The Flying Hummingbird – happened to get lost during a transport of supplies and weapons during the end of The Great Fire Wars.

And what Ronald experienced then, were to forever change him and his friends forever.

This is the introduction for The Tale of Ronald One-Eye, one new hero of the sea I just made up for Nianze to suit my purposes later on. You all haven’t met him since I just made him up so no use speculating about that. This though is the beginning of a great change for Ronald and the beginning of his Journey. He won’t become Captain Ronald One-Eye during this campaign but the character Ronald is supposed to be “invincible” and in a sense immortal. This though isn’t the case of course. This tale ends with him alive and on his way to become this great captain, any other ending is forfeit.

His surviving friends will also become heroes in history and get a name and nickname for themselves. This will be the reward for surviving this campaign that plus the benefit of learning about the Xin and the Creation of Exile which you will personally experience in first hand!! Afterwards I’ll give you a one time offer to play a Xin with one of their Racial Abilities for free (the race and the ability) if you can write a good story about your character that fits into the Xin-history that you know of.

The campaign will be played once a week in “chapters” which I will try to plan in before. The first chapter will be the prologue where the story begins and you can just try out your character a little. You will play Deckhands or Apprentices on the Flying Hummingbird and you will be young (tops 22 years of age, this including your specialty age addition). The ship is relatively big, about four decks, not including the ballast or the captain’s cabin, and with just over a hundred men working and living on the boat. No passengers, it’s a ship of transport working to help the world in the war.

You cannot be Healer or Tyniker. It is possible to be an Apprentice Mage but not Mentalist if that’s the case. You cannot be Orc, Littleman or Half-elf either. The sum you can create characters for is 3000 CP and you are Non Strikers. That’s the major rules about creation of the characters. You will know of each other even though if you might not “know” each other. How that will be, we’ll work out later.

Other than your Character Creation I’ll need a short description of your character’s appearance, his personality and also what he really likes and dislikes plus if you can muster up, some personal ambitions filling his life right now. I will add some quirks to your characters plus most likely determine your relationship and some other things to make it interesting plus deal you a plotline after I’ve gotten that information.

The main goal during the campaign is to keep Ronald alive and to help mold him into a character. It’s possible for someone in the group to play him; I’ll personally be willing to reward this person if you are able and can play him like I want him played out. If Ronald dies the Campaign ends and you will all die. It will be possible to replay the campaign until we have the story of Ronald and his friends. A hint you might have guessed, a lot of people on the ship will die and you and your characters plus Ronald will probably be the group mostly.

The challenge in this campaign is mostly to keep Ronald alive and out of trouble since he will be one of the Star Crossed fellas which will truly be one of The Tormented Ones. He will be the equalent opposite to Matrim Cauthon or David’s character with a curse. He will be the trigger of all events and also the only possibility to survive each chapter. If he dies at any stage you’ll loose. But as long as he is alive the campaign will go forward and the possibility of success will be high. The tricky part is mostly Ronald which I might say is a similar person as Rem, if you remember him. The whiny guy with Jayde who had someone inside of him.

Well, characters can be mailed or sent to me over MSN and questions about the campaign here. Since I will most likely start this campaign next Wednesday I would prefer the characters be finished by the next Sunday or Monday. This due to the fact that I want to keep this campaign alive as the feeling and idea is alive. I cannot promise that it will be alive if you aren’t prepared or willing to start it next week.

Great! Good to see you post first for a change.

Hmm well it sounds interesting, hehe keeping a starcrossed alive, phew.

    And now some questions:

    1) you say 22 years tops including specialty
does that mean that only specialities that have 6 years or less can take the youth template? since other classes(of those that are available) would surpass 22 years.

    2) About the reward, since it sounds like a one time deal only I hope there will be a possible group to play them in. if we succeed that is and if we have any time to play that is. oh well I guess thats more of a future thought.

    3) Im guessing elf is possible to play? thought of trying something new, so I was wondering, if possible I would like to have a small reminder of their two racial abilities if possible

Correct. The only exception is Mage. If you want to play an Apprentice Mage you can do so.

Elf is possible yes. Their two Racial Abilities are Elven Senses and Elven Mind.

Elven Senses heightens the elves “cat-senses” balance, reflex, dexterity, vision and in some extent smell. While active the elf will have a cat’s grace and his or hers eyes will be catlike and also faintly glowing in less illumination. Based on Cognition.

Elven Mind will greatly improve the elf’s intellectual process. It’s like an elven version of Skilled only non practical mostly applying to creativity, wits and cunning in general. The elf is suddenly able to deduct and use an advanced form of observational skills to do things that would otherwise seem impossible. Based on Wits.

What are the limitations of a 3000 character?

    Put 12?
Max lvl in skills and in speciality skills?
    Max bonus pts.?

  6. Herid Fel says:

Put 12, Max LvL 3 with a maximum of 5 in speciality skills.
    Bonus is 40p.

  7. Patrik says:

Well, as mentioned at the last eye session I had an elven archer in mind.

And I guess thats that, no but seriously I dont know that much about elves and I dont know how much background story you want for them since they are pretty much campaign characters.

Well basically so far ive thought about an elf raised in Katia with a strong liking for the sea and adventure which kind of was the reason for him/her(undecided) to end up on this boat when she got the chance. She also have an extraordinary eyesight and her archery is really skillful. oh well I will come back with some more, just wanted to post a small heads up and to keep the posts flowning.
