Karaoke, games and group pictures…

That pretty much describes today I think. In any case, the day begun with no breakfast. Which was a very, very bad start on the day which we soon would learn. Miiko though called us around nine and offered us breakfast which was good. The thing though was that she brought us noodles and some kind of tofu-stew which was kind of her, but unfortunately it wasn’t really good for breakfast nor did it help for my growingly unsettled stomach.

We both tried to eat a little from it even though it wasn’t good. After this we both agreed to go and shop. Soon after we came back Miiko came and talked to us about the two last visits to the temple. After she had left we went to meet up with a group of CouchSurfers I had found over the web to sing karaoke.

We got there a little bit late but even so we sang karaoke for maybe an hour or less. Drak and I sang “Staring at the Sun” with the Offspring. And I also sang some Red Hot Chili Peppers and also one Asian Kung-Fu Generation song which really impressed the three Japanese girls1 not that I thought it was that special. But then again everybody seems to think that as soon as a Gaijkokujin can sing anything that even sounds like Japanese it’s “SUGOI!”2. Not that I complain but it’s really not that hard I think.

After the Karaoke we went to eat a buffet at a Chinese place where we all talked a lot and got to know each other better. We were then three Japanese women, one American girl, one Norwegian guy, one French guy and one Swedish guy. We lost two people along the way. One thing that was funny is that the Swedish guy was named Oskar and the Norewegian guy was named Daniel. It seems like there is a lot of coincidences in my way, hehe.

After we had eaten and spoke a lot about things, plus we made plans to meet up with the Japanese girls again and go to an Amusement park with them and their friends in Yokohama this Monday, we went to an arcade hall to take group pictures in a Japanese style of way. It’s like taking photos in a photo booth only that it’s a lot more spacey and afterwards you change and add a lot of things to the picture. This makes everyone look kind of funny or like a supermodel-ish.

After this we went to a bar where everyone except me drank alcohol. Due to the irregular days we’ve had when travelling and such my stomach was in quite a turmoil today. I was forced to buy some medicine-ish to make it settle a little. At one point it almost seemed like I needed to go home and lie down but the medicine helped and I could stay. Otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to get to know all the Japanese girls and the other couchsurfers. I also met a Japanese guy who promised me to help us to find fun things to do plus he thought he could help me get a job here in Tokyo too. He had had a Swedish friend that had worked with teaching here in Tokyo which seemed like a great idea. We’ll see what happens and if we can get in touch with him again.

Well, today was a shorter post for various reasons. One, I don’t really feel like telling all the details and two, it’s super sunny today – Sunday – and I want to go out! So… see ya!

Best Regards,
