The Upcoming Group
Well, actually I have two posts prepared to post on the blog but my batteries died out on Linsuss before I got to post them. I really need to find a new battery… or whatever is wrong with it. Anyway! People seems to have completely thrown away Project 3 so I assume that the interest have died out thus no more continuation is needed. This post though I hope will get and keep your interest since it involves your activity. And not just “Wait for another post” interest…
I told you about this earlier that we will in some ways start the RPGing through the blog and after we have done this we will go even further to use the blog for “behind the curtain” activities. Things that WILL matter and WILL prove a difference for the game.
Anyway, the new group was decided to be an Eye group. Thus characters need to be made. You can use the templates which I sent out earlier to create characters, there isn’t that much a difference from those documents to the current documents I have. I would suggest you begin to create your characters and ask your questions openly here if you have one about that. The important part though is the concept and the shallow history and background of your characters and what you do which is the goal of these posts; to discuss and finalize your concept openly.
I prefer a non-secret group right now with most if not all cards out in the open. If you need a secret mail me about it and I’ll think about if I’ll agree to it or not. Anyway you should come up with your description, behaviorisms, goals, personality and other characteristics here. Also things like weapons, cultural background, philosophy and everything should be brought up here so we can work on your characters while I’m here in Japan and thus be more finished when the time to play is closing in.
Some questions for you in the group to decide;
- Which level of characters do you want to play?
In the Eye you must be special and you must have talents needed to help the world reach another day and to fight. They have requirements even though they are small and not that big during all Ages and Epochs. So the level is not only the point levels, from 3000 to maximum 5000 CP, but also level in general. - What will bind your characters together?
In The Eye there are a lot of possibilities to achieve this. But this group need a bond that will keep them together and easier to get together later. Not just that characters that are obvious misfits just hang out just because they are played by the players. If you are to be grouped together you need to work well together too. If you have in some ways bonded or will bond (we can do this as a group goal to achieve in some ways during play) or whatever. - What is the purpose of the group?
In this I mean out-of-game. Are we just playing casual to be able do vary what we experience or not or do we want to play something more specific. Ankan has requested some form of connections throughout the game so it would feel like it matters and have effect and not just episode unrelated missons and quest. I can promise that the Politics in The Eye will be involved and that your “resume” and things will have effect not only in The Eye itself but outside The Eye too in the countries/cities/regions you’ll visit. - Do you want an active NPC?
A simple question really. Do you want an NPC and what kind of NPC will you have? You will have a captain, or a supervisor at least and if possible I can even implement more NPCs but now I’m thinking about a group NPC which isn’t tied to one of you as PB seemed to have. Do you want one, in that case what are your wishes for this character?
These questions would be good if you discussed, preferrably on the blog so I can come with inputs and answers. I will try to come to my internetspot at least once a day so hopefully some answers will come up. Well, well… I will return later today to post my posts and to upload some pictures to Drak’s Blog.
Best Regards;
Herid Fel
Which level of characters do you want to play?
Well I actually I wouldnt mind a flexible group if people want to have less epic characters and some more epic. I myself had thoughts of playing a young but very gifted kremis(more on this later). But if my gonna try to specify something more precise I would say a more higher level of group.
What will bind your characters together?
The eternal question, no but seriously I really dont have an answer or suggestion for this yet since I only know what I want to play and little what Daniel wants but I hope that everyone that has an interest of this group will post on this topic sooner or later. Besides the Eye, I guess people could have met before joining and such things and traveled together.
What is the purpose of the group?
Well, as Ankan have stated, that some consistency between the session is nice, I agree on that. Otherwise I would like to see atleast some efforts to return to a more serious gameplay, maybe not in the same way we had before “the crash” but more activity and depth for the characters.
Do you want an active NPC?
Well as you said, I was wondering that but I didnt want an NPC really, or I was thinking about it first since I thought of maybe replaying Raven, but I decided not to do that.
I will get back to this question abit later after I have posted some more info about my characters.
But as for now I can say I am aiming to play a young kremis(aiming for a dark seed one again) that has been trained from a very young age to become something like the..hmm ultimate assassin or tool(sounds cheesy but I didnt come up with anything else at the moment, just wanted to give a small insight).
Which level of characters do you want to play?
Since we are in the eye, we won’t be farmer Joe’s atleast. Seriously I dunno, but I think we should be around the same level.
What will bind your characters together?
I don’t really know what you have done in the other group, but I get the impression that you haven’t really introduced the eye. So, we could do it like this to start off. We are the new batch of recruits and are sent out under the guidance of a more senior member on a really dull, boring, totally standard mission to break us in. But something happens, something goes wrong. I dunno what yet, that is up to discussion.
What is the purpose of the group?
To have fun. Sure, you can do that in the jumping around style in the other group. But I think the story becomes more interesting if it is bound together a bit. That is one thing I really like about Herid’s style of game mastering.
Do you want an active NPC?
See above mentioned senior member. Some kind of veteran, maybe a bit grumpy about having to bear with these rookies. Alcoholic? My image of this guy makes me think of Captain Torren Shank, not that I know much about him. But still, it’s up to discussion.
Currently I’m thinking about doing that Norki Druid we were talking about. It started out as a remake of Snorred, but shifting focus from training to ambient. Then it also combined with an old concept of using warpaint (not like those tatoos, these are temporare things), which became restricted to the Norki. Thats where the Norki part of Norki Druid came from.
So this guy would like an indian specialized in animal communication. The idea originated a bit from Snorred insuccessfull use of insects during that last battle. This guy would be a bit more prepared with packs of what is needed to drench his opponents in and slaughter them all! Or not really since he’s not that agressive.
This warpaint would be temporary buffs that can be selected. Some may be possible to combine, but the idea is that one need to be selected in beforehand to suite the needs since they are not instant. And they last quite a while, maybe like a day, or untill too messed up. But they can be reapplied when given a little while. Mostly not something that is done during combat, maybe some small thing can be done.
It’s good that some activity at least has come up. Well, as for PB can you elaborate. I might have forgotten details if you have spoken about it before and same goes for Ankan, the more of your wishes you can bring up the better.
I know what you want of and it’s a special but accepted concept. Though you will be very new at this warpaint thing. Just so you understand. You will be needing to study a lot to get somewhere with this but you will know some things of use (about 3-4 different ways or something) I have an idea to make this a quite versatile system so I’ll try my best to make something interesting but it will have drawbacks and mysterious non-explainable aspects which for the sake of keeping it mystical but extrodinary without too much logical thought.
I myself have tried to push you (Ankan) to a more agressive character. Mostly because you never played anything close to agressive more impulsive quick charaters, but since my demands are not what they were I will only let you know that it would be a good variation for you but it’s your choice.
Well, more! My thought was not only to bring up your speculations but in essence finish your characters with this post. So ask PB or Daniel for the documents, create your characters (all of you) and tell everyone what you have created here. Discuss and readjust here or even meet up (not in my apartment though, it’s off limits for everyone except Rasmus) and finish this.
You can mail me the data if you want suggestions or anything I will have a look at it and tell my points of view here. Well, now I’ll get going.
Well, no this is not a character I have been talking about before. But anyway about the character:
My thoughts were something along the lines of a very young child(a girl) that gets kidnapped or taken away by some sinister group(think Birds of Prey, a highly trained organisation of assassins and the likes of them) from Aguin too be honed and trained from a very young age to become a very powerful tool in future struggle between the goverments and other stuff(so most likely this will be some sub group working alongside Fagun or they are solo).
So I hope that is readable enough since its just a raw text directly from my head.
Anyways, She gets trained(and they turn her into a Dark seed very young) and they almost brainwash her into a cold-blooded assassin with no remorse. Why they just chose a person from Aguin was as I thought to get a person that could easily infiltrate these places(the northern countries I was thinking) and they were aiming to get their hands on a natural ki striker(dont know if this makes any sense since I guess its impossible to see on a young girl if they are an natural ki striker or not). Anyways her training includes such things as being able to deceive, act and basically use her beauty and charisma to get close to her targets and assassinate them easier, aswell as being trained in the more normal ways of assassination.
And as I said in the earlier post I was thinking that she was pretty gifted so I guess she is kind of an success and most valuable to this organisation, but somewhere on the road or one of her missions, her feelings and emotions swell up and she realizes that what she is doing is not good and very evil, and she gets confused and panicks and therefore she decides to flee her superiors and she atleast succeds for the moment and seeks refuge in The Eye.
So I guess thats abit of it, I hope its not too hard to understand and if you have any questions feel free to ask, also if somethings absolutley doesnt work out or just horribly flawed please point it out and any help is welcomed.
I guess I had some few special things I would like to have on this concept:
Being a natural ki striker – I guess if this doesnt work at all with Dark seed I will go with a fast striker.
Having Skilled – since I think thats a good way of expressing a very gifted and promising person.
A small age decrease – was thinking something around 3-4 years landing around 19-21 years old when we start playing, since I wanted to start this character at a pretty young age with not that much knowledge of the world except the things she have been honed to do all those early years.
Strong resistance against violence/horror – this I was thinking more of a double edged thing that she has gotten because she has been exposed to alot of horrible and violent things during her youth. So somehing in the lines of not having to roll on many horror/violence rolls but it will also mean not having a chance to increase any either.
Innocent aura – So with this one I thought something in the lines of a combination of her looks and aura = A beatiful young woman with a warm and beautiful smile and a kind and happy aura which is very deceiving and makes it easier to fool people and being able to surprise attack them easier, and if people succed to rate her(which I thought would be kind of hard) they would see a different aura, a cold blooded person who wouldnt hesistate to kill.
So I guess this is what I have come up with so far, what im aiming for with this character I guess is something in the lines of an prodigy assassin which tries to escape her old life and try to start a new life without superiors that wouldnt think twice of sacrificing you.
Well I guess thats that for the moment, as I said earlier please point out if there is anything that doesnt work or something you want added, the text became abit jumpy and maybe abit unclear at some places, mostly because I didnt know how to formulate everything so I just wrote what came to mind and what I had thought of earlier of this character.
I’d like my character to be a fairly competent fighter, so I agree with the higher level group PB suggested.
As usual I don’t have any bright ideas about this point, but respect is always a good start to build from. My character will respect strength and honor. Heh, The Gladiator quote was purely coincidental, what I mean is basicly achievements.
Anders request here sounds good, I would also prefer some continuity over the other Eye group’s style. Other than that I agree with PB’s wishes to get some more depth.
My concept is basicly a martial artist with heavy focus on precision, mobility and technique. My twist to this is the mantra (‘weight changing’) that we have be discussing and I will describe my vision of it and how I would ideally want to apply it later in the post.
I’ve decided that I want to make this character another Shikár. I have a few ideas of how this would work. Due to how I envisioned my character I think that a wind warrior makes the most sense. The character would be ambitious, proud and idealistic (satanistic) and has a preference for unarmed fighting over weapons.
The reason that he joins the Eye could be some kind of disagreement with the order, clan or shin holding him back because he doesn’t conform completley to the usual way of doing things, or he could have simply been refused entry to the fire order causing anger and frustration for the character. Perhaps because he was ‘a better fit’ for the wind order or perhaps simply because someone up high doesn’t like his antics. My first thought to what this problem could be is the fact that I’m making a martial artist, as wind warriors are expected to master a bunch of weapons I could easily see this being the source of a disagreement. After being held back (in whatever manner) the character somehow learns about the Eye and what it’s about. And arrives at the conclusion that working with The Eye to save the world is as important as protecting the Hell hole and thus sets out to join it.
As to when and how the mantra would be learned I’m not sure where to put this, it should probably be before joining the Eye though I guess as for the how I need some help.
The mantra:
My vision of the mantra I’ve requested is a pretty intuitive thing, something that is simply ‘tuned’ on the fly and without much thought.
Now, I remember you saying that I would not be given full control of this, but I’m going to write how I would ideally like it to work and then we’ll go from there. I would like to be able to use this for attacks, acrobatics and movement mainly; increasing and decreasing my mass (or how the world or myself ‘perceive’ the mass) to suit the situation. I.e. becoming very light to perform high and long jumps, or mitigating impacts from throws or falls. Increasing mass with attacks to cause more impact, I’m thinking different techniques here. In grappling situations it could be used to perform powerful body-locks in different ways. By this I mean basic locks improved by added weight.
Well it seems I’m running out of steam for now, but I have some questions about how some techniques and skills work. I have a few techniques I have in mind to buy, but I could use some suggestions for more. I intend to buy fell (or whatever you call it) and feint, other than that I just have ideas of attacks I would like to use. Spinkicks and “axe”-kicks are two kinds of attacks I’ve envisioned the character using, but perhaps techniques are not necessary for this. Regardless I’m thinking there should be some. I’d also like to be able to do follow up attacks, and I have a vague memory of there being a technique for that, and now I just remembered some other technique that allowed countering after dodging.
If I want to combination attacks like, say, a series of punches. How would I do this rule-technically?
So, I remember asking this before but I’m gonna err on the side of caution. Kiai, shiai and tenai could not be combined with other techniques right?
Guess that’s it for now.
Cool guys, sounds pretty epic, the most epic starting group perhaps?
hehe, dont know about that =) we still lack you! then it will be true epicness. hows it going with your story and post that was gonna come up on the blog?
It’s cold here so I won’t spend to long writing a proper response now I’m afraid. I’ll copy it though and read it in the warmth of the apartment.
A few key comments though;
Kidnapped from Aguin? Give me a break, that’s high epic and truly very special. An organization able to do that would make it really hard even in the Eye and you wouldn’t be admitted with that history either. Not as a member of The Eye, but maybe a person they are to protect. That is a too valuable asset and you wouldn’t be seen as a person really. No, try to… go smaller. I refuse to play on the scale you ask.
Try to think beginning of something, rather than the end of something. I don’t want you to have been a “skilled” warrior within your specialty since you yourself doesn’t know yet how to apply it I want to give it room to grow and be modified.
Another thing, I will not allow things as age reductions.
Well, I’ll get back to you. Later with more thoughts when I’ve studied and thought about it in warmth.
Haha, well I suspected that this might have been the case, guess I have to come up with something new then. I have some thoughts but none really well developed.
Well, im back with a new concept in mind, its not a kremis though, shame since I wanted to try it but I just couldnt find the right concept I wanted to play for it and it felt like time was running out if we were going to do anything on the blog before starting to play with these characters.
So, my new character is most likely going to be a warrior, A menarian guards captain or something in the likes of that, atleast someone who has made progress in the ranks atleast abit.
That decides to leave meno for services in The Eye.
So I guess the background story for her, is something along the lines of a small noble family with a history of joining the army, and since she proved to be capable of handling weapons and such, she was allowed to join the army.
She rose quickly in the ranks of the army proving to have a good way with people, like a natural leader(yes, im aiming to make a leader-ish type since it has been said that noone has never done such a person), but also for her good swordsmanship.
So I guess this gives you a small idea where im heading with this character.
As for leaving the army, I guess she was curious about the eye and it seemed like a excellent oppertunity to serve good and hone her own skills even further.
When it comes to personality, im kind of aiming for a good-hearted person that belives in hard work and dedication, always doing your best and such. Also she is following the menarian principle of respecting all the twelve gods, and she also belives in redemption. Although this sounds like a wimp she can be pretty harsh when it comes to getting the job done, although she would always try for the more peaceful solution, but wouldnt hesitate to kill if she or the group she is with is being threatened.
When it comes to things she dislikes, its cowardice, injustice and harrassing the weak.
When it comes to looks and appearance I thought of a stunning beauty with a long wavy blond hair and blue eyes that can devour the ocean(=P), with a very beautiful face and warm smile, as for lenght im aiming for a pretty standard menarian(abit taller than the average). As for her style of walking its abit more military than a noble, but still some grace remains from her time in the courts(or whatever you call them, noble dinners and such). She doesnt feel uncomfortable wearing trousers either and such since she had some practice with armors and such, and it doesnt really work with wearing a dress when in the military I assume.
As for the character on the paper, it will probably be a pretty well-rounded character with some higher values here and there(charisma, eloquence etc).
I would also like to have skilled on this one aswell, and im aiming for a natural ki striker once more aswell. I also remember that there are no riding skills anymore?(just got an idea though, how about adding a new skill called Mounted combat? like the other combat skills it would obviously be when mounted etc, it would also give a small hint of how good your character are at riding for instance, dunno just a thought.) Well anyways I thought my character should be pretty good at riding aswell, maybe even owning her own horse before leaving for the eye.
Hmm well before writing more I guess ill wait for the moment and see what the judgehammer has to say.
Oh yeah I atleast had some questions about Menarian guards aswell, what kind of weapons training do they have? I mean as a standard, I will probably have swing weapons and bows, but do they use anything else? just curious.
To PB
So we have a Captain Olivia Armstrong going ehy.
About Mounted Combat, it’s a good idea and it’s possible. Though as it is now things like that is more focused for benefits instead since I want it to be indirectly included in Athletics instead and the rest is up to background and benefits. Like Athletics in Taraien does not include swimming and so on and while on the Horse Isles everybody can ride a horse almost as good as ‘good’ horsemen in any other country.
About your earlier concept. With modifications it can work. I can’t see why it must be from Aguin which is the biggest flaw of all. To kidnap a child from Aguin is the biggest hindrance in your concept. Say just any other country and it would be possible in general.
Well yes, I was meaning that we were to not just discuss concepts but actually do something too. Like discuss things more closely and also set the ground stones so it would be just to finalize things when I get home and almost start immediately.
My first question about your character is; Why noble?
You’re from Meno, you aren’t a nobody just because you aren’t a noble. And you don’t need to be a noble for anything in your concept. Being a noble only complicates things, once again… If you want complications like that behind you its fine. It won’t enlarge your character anything, only make it unnecessary complicated and also make your character kind of a hypocrite since you have broken your loyal bonds to the Royal Family (The High Noble) and left Meno for The Eye.
As earlier mentioned, you give up all your loyalty and nationality when you join The Eye. I wold recommend that you are from just a regular semi-wealthy family in Meno.
The Menarian Guard fights in general with swords and halberds. All in the army or in the Guard must be able to fight with Staff Weapons and Swing Weapons. In the army shields are applied as well. Meno doesn’t have the best rangers and instead train specialized Archers and use Crossbowmen instead. As for other weapons they have their Claymore and also magical appliances when they are in a mixed troop with the Magical Guard too.
To Daniel
I like your concept. You don’t need to put your Shikár through the dishonor of leaving your clan and order though. During the Fire Wars lots of Shikár were left on the main land without any way of getting back over the ocean. They weren’t allowed on the ships and in many places they were hunted down by mercinaries or other people that just sought to fight them.
Many of them searched for work where they needn’t speak or could use their skills to survive. The clan had abandoned them and they were on their own. It’s like becoming Keishi Takfir but more like being cast out. Some tried to get back no matter what while others instead made a life for them selves and died in honor or became forgotten. Most though tried to get back home. You though can be one of those who instead searched for shelter in The Eye. Only a suggestion, otherwise you too would be a little bit hypocritical towards your character’s own principles.
About the Mantra I would suggest it’s something which you recently have learned while on the Main Land. I greatly dislike someone trying to get something powerful without going through the process and just getting it “for free”. Plus you will be bad on applying it if you get it on a high level and then you can’t use it properly. This gives you more room for experimentation and finding appliances and developing techniques with it.
As for the mantra in general. I would not give you so great control over it that you can use it whenever you want as you want. If you are to have a Mantra you have to suffer the consequenses and the methods of Mantra. You have learned it so you can use it by yourself-ish but you still got loads to learn plus you cannot completely control it as you wish. I would never give a powerful weapon to any player in any game-style without them earning it. Yo will get the knife handle, and then you will have to earn the blade and to sharpen it.
As for the rules it should be a combination of techniques. Shiai, Tenai and Kiai cannot be combined with other techniques other than themselves yes. And the rest though have some different appliances so you can combine 2-3 techs during one attack. Follow-up though, the technique, is not possible with unarmed. The follow up is only for swing weapons. It’s possible to mimic something similar to this, but it requires high property values and some skills on high levels and some luck (you need to “stun” your opponents).
Well, other than that I’m okay with everything, though you must decide what to have and not, like mentioned I want to “finish” the characters here. Not only discuss them.
To Ankan
I’ve been thinking quite a lot on your war paints and a system is being developed for it. There will be some different kinds of paint and it will not always be called war paint. War Paint will be only battle oriented paints. I would like though, that you try to play this character more “fluffy and pink” and with that I mean more like very superstitious and things like that. I would prefer a very “high” way of speaking and acting some times too. I know you are reluctant for brutish type of characters so I won’t ask that of you even though that’s what I actually wish from you. To be more active in groups like a rash person. In any case this character will need alchemy and will use it en great levels.
The thing though is that you will not have full knowledge about things. You are still in training and know little about this and have still more to learn. As I said to Daniel, I will not give someone something if they haven’t earned it and seldom I give you something which you cannot use. I prefer to introduce you to it so you can learn as your character learns. No matter the game-style that’s the way I prefer it. It gives the character more authenticity with his or hers abilities.
To all
I’ve started to work on a Senior Member of the eye to have as NPC. Your suggestions about being in the same unit would be prefferable. Some of you might have meet during the tests and exams before the initiation but that doesn’t matter. If you try to make an all-around group in a good way it will be solved that way. In that way it’s good if PB did not play his Dark Seed Kremis, since a Kremis is not well suited in a group in general and a Dark Seed even less.
Otherwise as it seems to be now Ankan will be the support and healer of the group even though his healing methods will be unlike regular healing.
The aspirant leader can be PB’s Oliva and the rest is up to your characters decisions in game later. Nobody knows when Foppa will join with his real healer or whatever it turns out to be in the end and as it seems now you will have three all-around but also focused warriors in the group. This will prove to be a well balanced group if the appliances is right.
The NPC though will not prove to be much of help in most situations since he will mostly act as mentor and commander. More about him or her on the first session.
Rasmus and Foppa should try to introduce their characters too. At least Rasmus should and Foppa can jump in whenever he’s close to ready.
Sure I can go with a semi-wealthy family from meno, no big deal really, just thought it would be more suiting and reasonable to have kinesics and rethorics if you have a more noble background, but im guessing if you come from a semi-wealthy family in meno it could be something you have been thought aswell or?
Hehe, and the likeness with Olivia I guess is a pretty good one =), I had her abit in the back of my mind when I started to flesh this concept out, althought the concept is older than the series.
And about the old concept, nah maybe it doesnt have to be from Aguin I guess, but I kinda saw later that a kremis as you pointed out wasnt the best chemistry for this group and we didnt really have “a leader type” so I chose to make another character instead, save the other one for another time maybe.
So my character should be able to use staff and swing well I was expecting something like that since I have a vague memory of seeing meno guards with halberds, but would it be unreasonable for my character to have learned bows aswell? seeing as my character is a warrior speciality.
And I had some questions about making the character:
Whats the maximum bonus point for a 5000 character? 40?
And I remember you saying that potency is not something we should bother with so I guess ill just leave that blank then?
How much can we put our skills and specialites from start?level 3 or 2?
And as for my characters horse riding, was that something that was acceptable? to be an “semi-good” horse rider from start?
Sounds good. I actually should get some other work done, but as I read I got some new ideas that I can mention.
So, I was thinking about using a few throwing spears that can also be used for close combat, a small shield strapped to the arm and this mysterious dagger. (Yes, I got some of that from the Aiel…)
I guess they have spears suitable for that. But what skills are needed? Thrust + Throw? And then two weapons for the shield part.
And what do you mean by the “high” talk? “High” as in high on drugs? Seeing omens everywhere?
Back to work now…
What about Norki names?
Since you say, we might have met during the tests and exams I assume this will mean we arent gonna play that part? shame, was centuries ago we played those tests.
To PB
It doesn’t even need to be a wealthy family. It could just as easily be a regular family in Meno. The lower the better for your concept. When it comes to Kinesics and Rhetorics it doesn’t matter which social status you have. Actually it’s better and easier if you aren’t noble in that case. Learning about things like that is something you can have struggled for in your life when you decided what you wanted to be. In Katia though it would be a completely other thing. But you are in Meno where even the lowest of people can become something and learn something. The Country of Possibilities. (This is one of the only things that always have and always will be true for Meno.
Staff, and Staff… it’s more like spears and Swing Staff Weapons like Halberds. Menarian seldom fight with regular staffs. Even though they learn to use a staff.
3000 CP – 40 Bonus Points, Max 12 in put
4000 CP – 45 Bonus Points, Max 12 in put
5000 CP – 50 Bonus Points, Max 13 in put
It depends. Specialization is preferable, not that you care, but you can at most have lvl 3 in any speciality skill. The alternatives are;
1, 1, 2
1, 2, 2
2, 2, 2
1, 2, 3
2, 2, 2
Yes, it’s acceptable. Menarian has horsemen as well as the world’s biggest cavalry (Horse Isle’s are kind of weak when it comes to the solider front).
To Ankan
You can manage with only Thrust. Throwing a thrust weapon is a part in the skill when you have achieved the Skill Tech. Otherwise if you want to get it earlier you can always buy the similar Skill Tech, “Throw Weapon” meant for a Melee skill such as Thrust Weapons or Swing Weapons.
High as in high on drugs. Think the “regular” Indian Chieftain. About Omens it’s things like you see three birds sitting on a roof. The middle bird is black and the flanking birds are grey. You then interpret this as a sign of some sort and try to put meaning to it. You understand?
I’m not really sure about that yet. The most important thing is that they doesn’t sound too modern or organized. They should sound more savage. Narhashai, Wulha, Gulhon are the first three names that I can improvise from what I have in mind for the Norki when it comes to names.
This is the first century of The Eye. The tests aren’t that extensive. The Eye is recruiting almost everyone that show signs of having potential and being determined to change the world. There will be some changes compared to the group we’ll play during Sundays. They won’t be as sophisticated in all areas and such things.
The Exams are more like measuring test where you just show what you are capable of and such things so they can put it down in your “File” and be able to know what they can use you for. The Eye you will enter will have barely a thousand Members and Olishid will only be around 40-ish years old.
I don’t understand this. Probably something you used in the eye group… Do you mean that you can have max lvl 1, lvl 2, lvl 3 for each of the speciality skills, or lvl 2 in all of them? But why then “1, 1, 2” and “1, 2, 2”?
At what level of thrust weapons does throwing become available?
Yes, I think I understand.
No, I didn’t use it in The Eye group. I mean that you can maximum have 1, 2 and 3 yes, but I also brought up all other possibilities so it would be clear that you could have 2 in all your specialities also.
I’m not sure right now, but I should think 2 and maximum 3. I will look over this soon.
Good, do you agree with this or is it too far out from your image of your character?
I agree.
Well…I’ve changed my mind about playing Linus. For the moment I’m interested in playing a Tyniker of some sort. High level group sounds good.
Where in the world and for what purposes are Tynikers used?
Is it only in Katia you can become a Tyniker?
Tyniker is mostly used in Katia, yes. And the only true way to become a Tyniker is in Katia too. Most people go there even though other people in other non-vordenistic countries try to replicate the technology.
In the style we’re playing that won’t have much effect though. You can be a tyniker from almost any country at all and almost any race at all. The Alchemistic semi-unholy methods are applicable by most races and people. Though it’s tied to blood.
It’s not as dangerous and “evil” as becoming a Kremis. So it’s quite safe in that sense.
The purpose is different. If you’re talking about the general tyniker – which is anyone who is doing a handcraft – they are used to make things work.
Real Tyniker though are used as weapons, engineers, alchemist to brew potions, poisons and drugs and to in general change the very fabric of reality to everyones benefit without the use of the magical abilities. They are also trying to make it possible for the “normal” man to withstand the forces of the unnatural like Ki and Magic.
But mostly they are scientists of different kinds trying to develop new things and technology and methods for things. They experiment in all the unknown and all powers. They want to uncover everything and to know and understand what the creator intended or at least find appliances on all the possibilities he left everyone.
Right, so I have been mulling things over a little. I’ve found a name I like for my character; Tatsuo.
I’m going to start working on a description for my character tomorrow after class so I’ll likely post that then.
Your idea of having gotten stuck on the other side of the ocean would work for me. However the timing seems a bit off, weren’t we playing something like 30 years after the Shikár went north? I don’t want the character to be much older than 30. Anyway, if I am mistaken then my character would have made peace with this new life and given up on returning home.
Well, I pretty much expected a reply like this to the mantra description. As I said earlier, this is simply my ideal image of it and I wasn’t expecting to get it all.
I’ve made a prototype of my charactersheet, I can’t really finish it as I want to buy techniques but I thought I’d bring up some stuff here. I’ve picked Dexterity and Fast reaction for abilities and Fast striker type. My skillset is pretty typical for a wind warrior I think, except for the fact that right now I only have one weapon skill which is swing weapons.
For the speciality skills I’m going for two in combat arts, one (or zero) in dual wield and three in meditation. I really don’t see this character ever using dual wield, so I could probably do without it if I find that I need the extra points when it’s time to buy techniques. Otherwise I’ll probably just leave it as is.
I have some more questions:
How old do I need to be to fit the whole ‘mantra profile’?
How does Tenai work exactly technically? Do I just pay the SC cost when I’m attacked and subtract from the damage?
Can it be used more than once each phase?
Also can counter be used after tenai defense?
Dual wield can have some applications on unarmed combat, atleast it had for Erion, didn’t know if you were aware of that or not.
When creating a character, what differences are there in the rules between normal Fort Debians and the Norki? Country Civics? I guess they still have Debian nationality? And they are all humans, right?
What language skills are needed for a general eye-guy? Speaking kemian? Any specifics about writing?
You were talking about the warpaint-ish thing beeing based on alchemy, so I guess I’ll need a lot of creativity and alchemy level, but do I need anything else specific there to realize my potential? Will Medecine be applicable? First aid should be that atleast. What about drugs and herbs?
First of all, please move the comments to the newest post (The Upcoming Group II).
I will answer your questions there.
