SERB – The War Unit

Well, essentially this is what I’ve aimed for to finish the campaign with as earlier stated. Its several reasons behind it, now after I’ve dropped the level of play a bit it fills even more purpose than before actually.

It would have been almost impossible to not become a War Unit in the campaign since all the three phases would have based and focused towards this and I would almost not have given you a choice in the matter either when it came to this if not anything more prominent and better for freedom roaming would have popped up during the campaign.

Phase One of the campaign was meant to learn about the Fortress, the core of the Debian Culture and how they are as a people. We had almost finished this. Phase Two was for learning about Debian Warfare. It was also to tighten together your group of people and invoke some more feeling into the NPCs around you and give you opportunity to grow as people. PB would, if this Phase would have been played, almost indirectly forced to do this to achieve her goals and also be part of the group as a Warrior Smith since it’s a shortcut to what she wants. If you enlist during a War Campaign you will get basic fast training so you can be of use and also gain experience both as smith and as a warrior. After that it would have been virtually impossible for they Forces of Narun to kick her out of the Force and she would have been able to gain her goals.

Phase Three was divided and more how a Fortress changed by winning or loosing and also the possibility of capture of deserting would have been dealt with. Most likely one or more of you would have been direly wounded and would have to experience the frustration of a War Wound and its transformation and how much pride it is in one. Phase Four was the Warband or War Unit you would have heard so much about during the second phase and the idea was that what was left of your comrades would most likely in the end of the Third Phase, join in.

Now we jumped over most of that and will play a modified version of the end of the forth phase which is where you are now. The fourth phase would have started with you, as a young team of newly war wed warriors creating this Warband to achieve more and be able to grow faster. You would then have gotten some missions over a couple of years period in game until you had gained some experience and also made some major changes and have had time to play out some things in some ways before progressing to what we now will begin. So you are essentially here, in the end of the Fourth Phase and I’ll now tell you a little about what to expect and the purpose of things.

To begin with the purpose it was first to give some way for adventuring and more freedom. Plus also loosen up the pressure somewhat when it comes to military organisation and struggles between comrades. It would also have been an awesome time to give you details I’ve missed or small titbits of other interesting stuff to pursue in Deben. Legends, mysteries, monsters and other strange things. Now the purpose has been extended to help somewhat in stuff similar to The Eye. How an organization works, help with techniques and test and extend other parts of Nianze.

It will now also serve as a way to progress your characters without too much depth and reasons behind everything since this is a good base for almost any concept you can possibly make in Deben under the circumstances. I will take turns in giving most of you some space meaning that some sessions might revolve around one character and others around someone else. Not necessarily everyone. Just some here and there, so when this happens I will have made up reasons to why and when and also give you purpose to aid this person or interact with this person in the way that is necessary.

As for what is to come it’s quite simple. See this as a prologue for what might come afterwards. The closest couple of sessions will first concentrate on you settling down and get things going for the Warband. I will also try to work out a good way to get things working for the Warband business so it will feel like Favour matters and that you have things you want to spend it on. Then it will proceed to special tasks when your Warband is trying to gain the Blessing of the Warlord of Narun. And in the end you will get it or die trying. It will not be that hard I think. Challenging but not too deadly.

You will during this period learn a little more about the fortress, the people and Deben. And most importantly you will learn a little about the surrounding area of Narun. I will also try to get you several things to pursue afterwards. Faradun will be a recurring event which you probably will visit on more than one occasion. If nothing else, to crush your fears and wicked view of the place. It’s one of the world’s most dangerous places, sure, but it’s not that bad. There aren’t Terminators behind every corner.

Well, if you want an NPC or something special, request it. Now I will try to do things that can be finished the same session and jump to the next thing the next time. So it will be a little tiny bit of training between every session. So every session will start with training, most likely. Training possible to gain techniques, or Favour, or build things or achieve things or whatever. We’ll see how I fix that. The bottom line is that only one major “event” will happen during each session and it will be focused around that.

So in some ways things will go faster than ever before, and you will be able to do things easier than before too. That is if they aren’t of too big a nature that I need to make it more challenging so I bring up obstacles. Like grooming somebody. I will never ever let someone do that without initiating it in-game. Things like that are too important even though the level is lower. So goal-based things will not be given away easily.

Well, well, that was it.
