Years Before On This Day I
This is the first Years Before-post I write. Well, see if this is total waste or not. If not, it’s a funny way to reuse old posts when you all seem to have died or just ignored the blog in general… wait.. you do that as a default setting… humm… maybe I should just start terminate the blog or change the nature of it? Hum…
A year before on this day ADL was terminated. As a tribute I thought I should write a little about that post and some late thoughts in the matter.
To sum the post up for you lazy, uninterested bastards who doesn’t give a fuck about anything I write on the blog and don’t really understand what a “comment” or “Feedback” is, the post was about how ADL had been terminated. What I thought about it, and a little on how I made it. I also whine as always about lack of acting out the character you have and just play some dry character aka yourself instead. In this post I also mentioned what is the groundwork for my settings concept which I later applied in AFC and now in LoW.
As one easily can see, much of my campaign-building is a more evolved version of the ADL-campaign. I pretty accurately describe what I want to do and how I want to achieve it. The groundwork for all my future campaigns were laid there, and I think it will be hard to recreate ADL in an more open sense, but it’s possible. The problem though will always be that people cannot and do not wish to see the world from the worlds perspective when they create characters, thus creating images of something completely different and brings too much of their own personalities into their characters completely ignoring their characters needs and goals.
Well, it was a good campaign, and I’ve made some changes to it, but in general it’s an introduction campaign in a more epic setting. The characters are destined to become part of the groundwork in history for the Vampires even though it allows an open ending to continue adventuring afterwards. ADL ended though because of Danne mostly, since he utterly refused to play his character thus completely destroying my will to continue and also his refusal distracted some of the group to create other characters. Not to mention PB that wanted to become a Pathetic Bitch as usual and couldn’t stand to be able to actually be able to play out his character successfully. He wants to play wicked women instead. The only one who actually had his focus left were Ankan, god bless him. But that’s not enough when the mule in the group still destroying all will to play.
Well, well…
Well, when I think back on ADL I think it was a interesting campaign particulary because it was about vampires which I find very interesting and I must say I liked the nianze vampires with hopes of playing a more serious one someday.
Since I can admit the one I created was mostly because I wanted to see the society and such things, atleast for me that was the thing that mattered the most with that campaign, although I wanted to play the whole campaign, atleast that was what I had in mind when ADL started but after the last session in phase2 we suddenly stopped, not my choice to stop.
Even so I would have quitted this character after the campaigns end because it really didnt feel like my own character.
One of the main reasons for the campaign were for you to be able to adjust to limited options and play something different. If you would have put some more effort or tried to play your characters more correctly, the feeling would have been better and we would have continued to play. When you mostly did your tag-a-long just watch and see thing it took the edge and feeling out of the campaign since you didn’t dedicate yourself to the character.
Playing a campaign is not just to play what you want but to make the best of what you have and not just; “I’ve reached my goals” as soon as something doesn’t suit you or is precicely according to your wishes and visions. To be versitile as a good trait which most of you lack since many of your characters are too similar to each other and you seldom change your overall characteristics. Thus your characters always being bimbos or bitches, Daniel’s always being thoughtful half-brute barbarian, Foppa always being the laid-back too thoughtful philosopher and Ankan, though he is the one actually trying the hardest and succeeding the most in changing he sometimes reasons too much and thinks too much with his characters making strange missteps such as thinking too logical.
THIS is what campaigns is all about. Making what you have YOURS and give it LIFE and FEELING. And as for the choice to end the campaign. EVERYONE except Ankan was for ending it, including you. I felt that you didn’t play your roles and thus lost interest to continue the story after I had shown you the important part and Daniel was already in the clouds and you didn’t seem too dedicated to the game.
I agree with most of what you said but at the same time if we go back to ADL im quite sure you said something in the lines of “This is an introduction campaign for vampires and it will mostly focus on the society as a whole and such the emphasis on the characters will be lowered” im quite sure about this, which in my oppinion basically says you can create a character but at the same time the story and introduction is key.
And about all my characters is bitchers/bimbos(yes I know this is an exaggeration it has to be or you have a strange definition of bitches, but ill bite) well I dont agree but we have been through this before.
I did yes, but still I thought you would try to empathize and at least try to play out the character concept you had chosen. What I meant was more that you didn’t have to focus too much on the development and psychological changes within your character. I still meant for you to play it accordingly and at least try to be interested and explore as a newborn child and play out your character. But Daniel outright ignored me, as usual, and you didn’t even make an effort which gave me the impression of the impatient drumming of fingers on a table waiting for you to create your bitch.
All women with the exception of Serena were bitches bimbos yes. Not even Raven avoided this trait of yours.
Bitch in my book is when you always act as you are the more important and cunning character and think that you should get your will through. One dominates others and gets angry when it doesn’t go as planned or someone is better or have better opportunities than oneself. That plus the aggressive personality behaviour you HAVE had with everyone except for Serena.
A Bimbo is someone too focused on their looks and clothing. Which you’ve been with… as far as I can see, all your characters since you’ve begun to play women. They are also very focused around the “exotic” and “sexual” theme which is very common for you to play.
Let’s see if I remember correctly.
Aurora – Always bossy and extremely easy to get to violance and forcing people with her magic in the most violent of ways.
Cyane – A bully with her snake and powers. Always told people what they should do and got extremely angry and tried to force people to her will. And when that failed, the player sulked.
Raven – Was a “bodyguard” character in concept but without the Crow present she bossed around and did as she wished with no regard for others. Especially on her single missions.
Lilith – I wonder if I even need to get into this über-epic bully of doom and darkness. She dominated everyone in the group at times and threathend everyone in everything to get her wishes through.
Jayde – BK Woman Matte called her. She used her strength and powers to bully the group and dominate as usual. She also seemed always in charge not to mention how she violated most of the group.
Serena – Pretty girl, short-lived due to Foppa. The most prominent character for a potential change with an almost humble nature even though she tried to boss every now and then over her servants. Important girl with her nose up high.
Violet – Charismatic focus. Beautiful and all that. Plus trying to dominate with demonic lineage. She was a dominant appearance focused being who wanted to do as she wanted, just look on how she treated Halor.
No I would say that your characters are bitches, and that is not a too far exaggeration.
Well , im not gonna deny it, not really what im trying to do, but some characters I dont agree with it, mostly Serena and Raven actually, I dont remember bullying other characters with Raven and I only had one single mission if i remember with ankan, and there I dont remember bossing his character around at all, we mostly explored Tesh basically.
As for Serena I dont agree at all and probably never will but if thats your view of it…
well well
She tried to order her manservant, Sture, around when she shouldn’t but Adam was the one she was trying to bitch around quite much not to mention she tried to play her brother several times.
When it came to Raven she tried to take the lead in most group-missons. And when people didn’t want to do it her way she did it her own way with no regard of anybody else. That is how it should have been played, but that’s still bitching. And she didn’t tell people important facts either.
