What Has to Be

So now the session is over and everyone with the obvious exception of Violet is in the right position. Well, PB works so what more can be expected. Well actually I can skip him forward just so we can continue as quickly as possible. But for this to happen some decisions needs to be made. But also, I want some reviews of this session and its style.

So, what did YOU like the sessions style?

I myself liked this even though it misses some things but it’s good for “mean time activities” if you know what I mean. Like downtime for groups where people are doing stuff put actually nothing in particular is happening. You live your life and aren’t adventuring and doing your job. This way you can perform and build up your character in a more substantial way without always grouping. You build up a reputation; you work like people do even if your work is a little bit odd. And the downtime where nothing happens is a little less… boring. You build up more around your character and are actually able to achieve something too.

Well it lacks the details of the more ingoing play style and the social depth is a little bit more shallow, but generally I think it’s great to do like this in non important relatively regular situations when you play a more casual style where you doesn’t have something really serious, eventful and dangerous ongoing. It’s called, a life, in some terms. To widen your characters social depth and actually try to live according to the worlds possibilities and explore in a more indirect and perspicuous way. Well, anyway; I see a lot of possibilities with this style, especially with city adventuring where nothing much happens and every day-to-day activity would just be simply boring. The most important thing with this style right now though is; it brings a sense of progression and some thing happens.

Well, what is your opinion did you like this style and what are your thoughts about it? I would appreciate all kind of comments on this matter.

Lastly to this subject I want to add that before, when I used the style that this is based on I used SP to motivate quick solutions. I.e. if you solve this goal in one session you will get 200 SP and so on. I think I’ll use it next time I bring up this technique.

Well over to PB; to be able to play again on Monday or Tuesday we must decide some things to get you to your ‘end-station’ so to speak. So I’ll be straight and give you some alternatives.

Maginator Tergan has an idea on how to pursue this matter more directly. This though requires for him to know the details about the artefacts and their use. Your choice here is the following;
Let him in on the secret of the Four Temples you’ve been exploring an the mysteries behind it.
Refuse to give him more details and just have him examining the three objects thoroughly.
Lie to him and mislead him and just use him for your own selfish purposes by shrouding the truth in lies to make him believe that you’re doing something completely different than opening a really dangerous temple that seems to be guarding something really powerful and mystical beyond your imagination.

If you chose to in any way include him by lying or telling him, he might be a more recurring NPC than he will be otherwise. It will also fund the future of the Macabre Timeline with Magun’s money. This will fulfil two of the goals you were given if you choose him.

In your search for the Fakir in question you need to solve the riddles. But you have practically solved them, and the last one is something that your character would be able to do without too much of a hassle. The question now though is that this master of tales, and stories, will require a sacrifice from you which he explains is a part of your soul. I will tell you more about this mystical character later. What the master asks for is not evil, nor abominable. But it’s very uncommon and a very big sacrifice. Giving up a part of your soul to this master is the price to hear his tales, and he knows all of Taraiens tales, or so he claims. He will for that price answer three questions or tell you three stories. You can mix it, but you can only ask him for three things and only once since taking another part of your soul is forbidden.

So what three things do you ask for?

Well, questions as well as opinions and thoughts are appreciated if posted here.

Ah, I need to add that if we are to play on Monday I’ll need help finishing the cleaning during the day and I’ll SLP Erion. As for other possible sessions on the week it’s hard to say, and I don’t know when Foppa is able to play either.

    Well, well…

I completely agree with you, this kind of session is a good way of ‘getting up to speed’ quickly and I hope that we can use this more in the future for downtime and ‘slow-time’. As you said though, of course the roleplaying loses some of the quality playing this way, however I think that speeding up the ‘boring and tedious’ bits more than makes up for it.

Also, I kind of like this objective based element of today’s session aswell. As long as these supplied goals are negotiable I can only see it as being positive and I imagine that this could help a lot at times when a player is lacking ‘sense of direction’. This time my post really didn’t give me any new thoughts, however it did make me think my objectives through again which in and by itself would have been useful on a ‘bad day’.

I have nothing negative to say about this kind of session other than the earlier mentioned trade-off.

    Thanks Daniel for the Feedback.

Did anyone want to help to finish cleaning on Monday or not?

In any which case, since nobody have commented on this post other than Daniel I’ve made other plans for Monday so no session on Monday.

Well, I liked the playstyle. I dont think I have any input right now but I will try to give a better response later.

Just so you know I wont play until Wednesday. About the cleaning I wont help either, unless you suspect you might not have time to finish in time or that you could but at a mayor inconvenience, in which case I will help.

Well I pretty much agree on the things already stated , good for speeding up things when there isnt much plots or stuff ongoing , although I still miss abit “normal” play in Kabaa and such because atleast I havent gotten a better picture of that city since act 1 basically which is abit of a letdown , I had hoped for more interaction there but I guess it will come later since it seems like we will be speeding until we are basically ready to go out to macabre area again.

Generally I dont like this style , reminds me to much of A->B and skipping all stuff that are interesting(well most of it) and mostly rolling a die to determine all the outcomes.

    Anyway as for my choices:

I will tell Tergan the truth with the hope and confidence that he will not betray the trust I put in him of not telling Magun everything.

Bah , of course they want my soul!(what happened to normal costs =() meh meh meh
Well Violet is kind of desperate now and if she doesnt do this she will probably give up macabre. So I guess my three question will be something like this:

    1. How to solve the riddle “To Isis see..” in the Temple of Life.
    2. Want to hear some tales of the old gods(particulary the four ones we are investigating).(if this would count as multiple question I guess I will re-phrase it.)
    3. Tales of Macabre

I dont know if these are entirely logical to ask , but this is something along the lines I would like to hear anyway.

As for helping tomorrow I think not , I decided already earlier today that it is probably wiser to play on tuesday and let you fix the apartment on monday without a stressful timetable and also it annoyed me of your fathers hmm sloppiness?.

    3. Tales of Macabre

It was said a tale not a collection of tales. So “some tales of the old gods” does not count as a tale there is thousands of tales involving the old Gods and you can kiss your wrinkly ass if you believe you will get more than one tale, even if it would be just one sentence long.

As for TALES of Macabre. He won’t tell you and it will still count as one of your requests of him. The only thing he says is that Macabre is an dangerous, dangerous place from long, long ago. All the tales of Macabre have been banned for just speaking of Macabre is dangerous and will bring great misfortune to the ones involved.

You still haven’t rephrased this sentence. Do so or loose the question slowpoke.

  8. Patrik says:

    Alright.

    2. Any tale that explains the relations between the four(Isis,Anubis,Hathor,Yah)particular temples?

edit: if there isnt such a tale just remake it into a question

  9. Herid Fel says:

Well do you want your answers as a comment or at a session. Either way is fine and I don’t think it will spoil anything so it’s up to you. This includes the tale as well as the help for the Riddle of Isis.

Lets take them at the next session
