One Week with Avatar Junior

It’s been one week since I got Avatar Junior. Even though it’s only a week, I’m already really attached to him. It’s hard to believe it’s only been one week. We’ve been through so much it seems and he’s learned so many new things and he’s getting more and more accustomed to my apartment.

Yesterday I decided that since it’s been one week now, I would move up from the couch and back to my bed and see how this would work, if Junior would manage this. So while he was playing, I went to bed and for a while I thought that hey, this will work. But boy how wrong I was. Only about five minutes after I went up to bed he was screeching, or whatever one would call the high pitched painful mewing he was doing on my computer chair trying desperately to reach me so well, I could not stand to hear him cry out like that so I went down again and tried to put up the temporary ramp I’ve managed to get for him to climb up on my bed with.

Well, the reason to why I put it away I the first place was that it’s made out of plywood and even though I thought it would hold  for him, the angle are quite steep so if he tries to use it to get down he rolls or slides down instead. And being a small kitten, it looks really risky in my eyes when he tried to do that when I tried it out. But well, I had no other choice if he were to get up and down from my bed so I put some pillows in the end so he wouldn’t hurt himself and then showed him a few times how to get up, and down then putting him down on the floor to play with his stuff and find his way up. And then I went to bed and waited, he was to do this on his own, otherwise this would not work.

And believe it or not, about five minutes later, I heard a gentle meow in the end of my bed and felt his warm little paws when he balanced on my leg and went up to my pillows and around my head and down the bed and up again. I was really proud of him then, managing to find his way up to the table, and then climbing up on the plywood and coming up here without even one complaining meow. Now it was only to keep him from falling down, because he has a bad habit on choosing bad positions to sleep in, positions that often aren’t that sturdy so he can slide down any minute and it happen today when he was laying on the coach he fell asleep and moved in his sleep and fell down on the floor on the other side. I hate it when he falls like that, which is one proof of how attached I’ve become to him just this past week.

Well it proved not to be a problem at least. He is actually quite afraid of hights and he had realized how high up the bed was. I mean, he is afraid of jumping down from my computer desk and my bed is about twice the height of that. So he just found a nice spot to lie on and everything was fine. I don’t know if he went down anything while I slept but I know that when I woke up he wasn’t in the same position as when I fell asleep, and before I had even come up from bed he had went down the ramp without hesitation or fear, so from now on the ramp will be there when we’ll go to bed and he’ll have to find his way up and down on his own accord.

But today I’ve taught him a new trick, and he was quite easy to teach this trick that I’ve read could be hard for a cat to learn, and that is fetch. Even though he doesn’t do it with all things, right now only one thing, and maybe another but he must be in his playful mood or he won’t do it and he must be able to take it up in his mouth in some way or he will rather just play with it than fetch it. The second thing I’ve thought him today is to speak, or at least so it’s called according to some sites on the internet, and that is to respond when I meow at him.

Well, it’s been a wonderful week and I hope we’ll soon have another kitten here. I’m on the lookout for one more and maybe I’ll be able to get one tomorrow. We’ll see.
