Separate Timelines

Today was just a starter session, a soft start if you like. Just to give you some perspective and try to get you going. Even though some of you didn’t get much done but I just wanted this to get at least a soft start where you decide most of what happens and if I got the opportunity I’ll start my plans for this arc as I’ve told you to.

From the next session and on we will start an experimental way of playing single-sessions next to each other. I will implement some more controlled happenings and with the ulterior goal to get the group back together and the main timelines of this arc flowing. So let’s describe how this will work more closely, and pay attention because you’ll need to remember this I don’t want to repeat this all too often.

The speed, your actions, your reactions and your course will be determined by you with this style of play. You will most likely not interact with each other if this isn’t logical at the point where you’re at. And if my plan works as intended you shouldn’t need to interact before we reach the point where we’ll play as normal again. But remember you don’t need to be at the same day, time, or even week with this style. It’s based on events and actions, what happens in-between is summarized with some sentences with the facts needed and every thing else is just jumping from the important moment to another.

What you all should focus on now is your character and his or hers purpose in Taraien. You do what you need to survive and what suits your characters goals. If you don’t know as player what your character should or would do and feel a little bit lost, just ask and I’ll give you my viewpoint and some hints to what to do and how to do it. I will also make clear what your greatest goal is right now. But I have my ideas and I will most likely try to make it so if you don’t have a really good reason for it to be otherwise.

Devon’s goal right now should be first recovery and then get going on monster hunting, most likely on the Savannah around Kabir and the Meno Outpost, where he can regain some strength, train his left arm and become more accustomed to his right arm and his new gear. He should also try to get more information and knowledge of the monsters and animals in this country and try to regain his strength and confidence.

Erion’s goal should be his treasure hunt. He has been here far too long and he hasn’t progressed a bit. Of course he needs to restore his strength, and if that isn’t possible soon he will have to find a way or try to become better soon. He have a purpose (believe it or not, hehe) and if he doesn’t fulfil it soon it might be too late. So recovery and treasure hunt, on his own or trying to get some help from the other adventurers in the Boarding House.

Souichirou’s goal is to somehow get to Kadaji again or at least lure him out. His main goal is to finally fulfil the task that was given to him and the task which almost all his pride and honour hangs upon. Kadaji is mocking him, and he has put him in a tight spot so finding, ruining and killing Kadaji should be the one and only goal in focus for this fierce renowned Fire Warrior.

Violet’s primary goal should be knowledge and clues for the Macabre Timeline. Her secondary goal along the way should be to try to find where DL went, but it shouldn’t be her primary goal. She’s here to uncover Macabre, which will be not only her biggest achievement but most likely one achievement that would give her respect from many people in Magun, Magicka and Meno not to mention her family and most specially her Father. DL should be something she does more as a pastime or more like my dreams, something she does when she is resting and taking a break from everything, she should know that since they’ve lost Halor and all the temples have been so hard, she need to plan, and plan seriously hard if they are to have any chance succeeding with this endeavour.

I can offer you quest-like points if you like. This will use an old method from long ago where I give you goals which you need to fulfil before we can move on and when you’ll be rewarded with progress. These goals will make it more clear what you need to, or should, do but it will also give you the opportunity to play your character. Also note that what happened today doesn’t necessarily need to have happened on the same day. There aren’t any more national events that I’ve planned for this part of the story so it doesn’t really matter if one of you plays one month in game and another just half of that, I will match it later anyway, somehow.
