The Prehistoric Ages Part I
Nianze Myths
This is a series of a story-like history for Nianze. It’s meant to be written from the viewpoint of Yurin’s history books. Therefore nothing of this must be true. It’s only the common knowledge on the advanced level. Please read this text as it’s a story and imagine that this is a fact book and remember that your character1 may not know everything I write here, but mostly this is the common view and this is what the skilled or school-trained person in Yurin knows. But know that a very selected few actually go to school in this world to, so most have a little wicked view of the history and therefore you can, as an example, twist this text and remove some elements if you want to play a character who you don’t imagine to have been around scholars or been to a school of any kind.
This is the rewrite with some changes. In the end I’ll put a link to the other rewrites. If you want to compare the two different versions you’ll have to do it on your own though. Also note that I’ve changed some facts because I liked it better this way and to better suit other stuff I’ve come up with for my world.
Comments are most welcome as usual.
The Prehistoric Ages
Foreword
The prehistoric ages of Yurin is shrouded with mysteries and uncertainties. Nobody actually knows what happened when much of the records and information about everything before the age of the apocalypse was lost during the many devastating wars that have actually torn the planet apart. Much of what is known is only built on bits and pieces of the few things they’ve found from the Demonic ages. But most of the information is only hypothesises and theories. This record will cover what is known from myth to facts and everything in-between. So let’s start with the most ancient one shall we?
Chapter One – The Creation
Nobody really knows anything about the creation really. All that is really known is that Vordén2 most likely created the world a long time ago, but not even that can we even be certain of. Vordén was the most powerful being on Yurin that ever existed. How he came into existence is unknown but the most plausible theory is that he was born from a great swell of energy from the mystical realm of Oblivion3. This theory isn’t so well known throughout the world and most believe that Vordén created everything and that Vordén is eternal, therefore he is everything and has always been. This story is supported by the celestials and the other story is even considered abominable in some cultures and countries.
However, it’s believed in both theories that Vordén created everything that exists on Yurin; the nature, the creatures, the laws of nature and the order of things. Nobody knew exactly how powerful he really was but it’s believed that he was almost almighty and all-knowing. Some still do believe that he was almighty and all-knowing. The reason to why people later started to doubt that he was almighty and all-knowing is due to the fact that he’s believed to be dead, or erased, depending on how you look on it. The last creations he made were spawns of himself, two lesser beings; Gude and Sate. These two later betrayed him, by killing him, if killing is the right world for something that isn’t really alive. Exactly how this happened is unclear. This made some believe that he wasn’t that powerful after all, while others believes that this was his will and that only part of him was destroyed by his two spawns.
Vordén had many forms and actually showed himself to his creations. He was initially a great force of energy that could be seen as a great green light sweeping through the skies and whirling around as a magical wind. Sometimes he possessed animals, trees and other living things. During the age of man he possessed a couple of humans too. Sometimes he just transformed himself into a great giant that walked around the planet taking care of the mountains and the forests and maintaining the oceans4. When he created Gude and Sate they were red and a yellow smaller forces whirling around in the sky along the great green ones5. They also had mighty voices that could echo through the whole world, though only Vordén was powerful enough to without any medium be able to speak to all of nature over the whole planet.

Actually it was only one, but it was so big that you could sometimes see it in many directions, it’s also believed that he could split himself up ↩
For some reason I came up with the idea of commenting on the rewrites. Well, actually I thought about Brandon Sanderson’s Annotations where he comments chapters and I thought I should just add some comments on the chapter in general if nothing else just voice my own opinions and point out some of the changes, if big or small.
This chapter is the shortest of them all and thus not many changes could be made. I think I changed some formulations here and there but I was fairly satisfied with the results from the first draft of this chapter. I mean, it is the creation after all, how could anyone except the creator know the full extent of what happened. We can guess and this is supposed to be a story from the perspective of what the people living just in the beginning of the Apocalyptic Ages know too.
Well, it’s a good start I think and well, well…
