Ramble XXXIV
I must say that this trip was a better thought than I initially thought. In the beginning I was a little sceptic how things would turn out being away for so long, but it all turned out good after a while. And it’s been really good for my thoughts too, I’ve had some time to structure my thoughts and stress down so now my acute nausea is almost completely gone.
The main reason for my nausea being back to normal (about 20-30 minutes when I wake up) is most likely that they have quite a lot of food here and are quite generous and kind with sharing food. If I had planned this a little better I could have had some more money for this trip but unfortunately I paid all my bills before going here so I have barely a couple of hundred left for the moment. But I’ll fix with that when returning back home.
The only thing that has bothered me so far is an overdose of social activity and new strange people. But all I needed was some time to adjust and some time for myself. Sometimes it’s hard to believe or remember that I’m not actually a social person but works mostly best alone. It’s hard to believe when I’m hosting people nonstop and when I spend time playing role-playing games and so on.
Speaking of social people, I wonder when I’ll have time to meet Drak this week. He’s also down here as some of you might now and it would be fun to meet him, even if it would just be briefly. I thought about meeting him today but he was busy being with Adolf so today (Monday) I’ve mostly spent alone with Bartle and Cheez Doodles1 which are their cats. Bartle isn’t very social, he mostly stays under Mimmi’s bed and seldom comes out before evening and then only to walk around meowing loudly for himself and running away as soon as someone tries to come close except for Cheez. Cheez on the other hand is a cute little kitty who is very social. If he isn’t running around playing he’s either napping or lying besides someone to be rubbed and patted.
Well, I’ve had time to think quite a lot on the role-playing and I’m quite pepped to start up with both groups, Iijavin and AFC. Hopefully, Foppa and I will start to play his single pre-sessions soon so he’ll soon be able to join the group. Hopefully this concept will hold, it’s awfully annoying when Foppa creates good concepts which mostly fail due to his… Foppaness. I’m quite enthusiastic about Iijavin too, it’s always inspiring to create campaign worlds since I can use some alternative rules and experiment a little with the world. Not that Yurin is a bad world, but sometimes differences are fun to experiment with, especially with culture and social society structures which is hard to change in a world such as Yurin when the planet is… quite as it is.
One thing to watch out for though is not to focus too much on the campaign world or make it too big. If it gets too big, it will be hard to get a flowing good campaign working in the world and if I make each part of the world too significant the freedom of a new world will be lost for all players. If I focus too much on the world it will never get finished and one thing which should be more of a focus in this campaign is the story not the world. The world will be possible to expand later, if necessary.
Now it seemed that the girls have finally arrived back home from the city and I think that I’m actually going to be social now a while. Well, I hope you won’t loose to much this week because we’ll be able to play again next week.
Best regards,
Herid Fel
