Shangri La – Ended

It seems like you managed to get out of my illusion world in the end. It was in no hurry though; you still had quite some time left to get out of there safely and without resorting to other alternatives such as converting to Star Crossed or the like. I must say that I in the middle of Shangri La started to believe it was too hard to get to the conclusion for you, but I guess I was wrong.

So what now? You are back in the Sands just in the end of the monsoon and with a unique creature with you, a Shangril, not really fit for life in reality and certainly not used to this world either. That might prove interesting but time will tell what will happen, it doesn’t matter too much anyway. When I planned Shangri La I imagined that you would escape with the Shikár Shangril and most likely use the Mystics more than you did. But I played by the rules of the world and things turned out as it did. It was quite fun to se the result even tough you could have done much differently and most likely should have done some differently.

Well, it doesn’t matter now. What waits now is an Arc Break. We’ll sum up this arc and then depending on what I and you want it might be one or two more single-session or even a duo session for the Shikár before we’ll continue to the second arc. I’m not sure what will happen or so but I think we might jump a bit ahead to a certain point where things have settled a little in the deserts. A lot of answers and a clear picture of what is happening (from your point of view) will be provided and then the next objective and arc-story line will be formed.

This week tough I mostly advise you to think through the events beginning from the cave after the sand storm. We will go through events generally based on sessions or scenarios. Which will say that Hathor is one event. The important thing is the effect and the flow of things from your characters point of view. After that your player challenges will be discussed and I will kill you with my criticism…

Or just try to give you all which I have observed based on everything from your goals to your challenge. Hopefully this group will survive more than a second arc (since I begun with arcs nobody has survived more than two arcs) and I hope there will be results in this break. If you have any desired things you want to play or questions of any kind I suggest that you write them down to make sure you remember them.

One thing I thought of when creating Hibiki and Keisuke was that we made them as a “joined” concept. Therefore it is possible that we can join your sessions as well, but even so there will be parts I want to have you alone. Such as criticism and development of the character. So the first session will be separate but the rest is more or less up to you.

Well, I’ll be going to Umeå this weekend so no RPG this week other than the Outsiders and most likely one X-files during Wednesday. So you have a week to prepare. I also know that Ankan might have some things he needs to do now so take this as a break if you will. Single-sessions are open to request AFTER the summary of the first arc. After that we might take it easy with single sessions until Ankan is ready to play again.

I also whish to express that you actually put some effort in your questions and requests for the single sessions, and if you have critic to me and the events of the arc. I whish to hear things that you’ve thought through and not as always, things you just come up with. I’ll try to write some critic and other stuff for you to read as well…

By the way, any thoughts around and about Shangri La? Could be good to have some to look back at later and maybe you have some more thoughts I haven’t heard yet?

Well I still had some thoughts of who/what Shanri La is.. I guess its something you dont really wanna reveal. But im guessing its some sort of phenomena within magic storms. Other than that I guess you could speculate why its so attached to Taraien as you said that it was basically the only place where it was stationed for a longer time(a whole monsoon?).

My best guess is that its actually some sort of creature that actually nurtures the essence of people , maybe their willpower because it seemed like it wanted you to stay and tried to please you with giving you the things you craved for. Maybe thats the key of destroying Shangri La , to get everyone to rebel against it or im guessing that it has some sort of “power core” that upholds the place.

If Shangri La is a place rather than a creature the interesting question is who created the place , or maybe it created itself for some ages ago , maybe through peoples wishes of a paradise.

I also speculated for myself how it would have been if we would have been stuck there with the knowledge we had , that basically everything we strived for we could get , everything would have probably felt weird and fake , maybe our characters would have gone insane eventually.

Or maybe eventually our characters would just give up on trying to leave and adapt , like most people did in there , I guess its hard to resist when you get everything you wish for basically , except getting out =).

One more thing to ponder is why just porcelain , if there was any special reason for it? My guess for that is probably because if the shangrils were organic then maybe they would have taken energy to sustain, and therefore it was easier to make them into inanimate objects. Could probably be alot of other reasons but what got me thinking of that was actually abit in the end, when Shambala tried to lure us by creating people out of our memory , if not that expedition guy was real that is. Because if shambala could create living beings from youre memories without a cost of energy it would have probably done it more often than it seemed to do.

Well well thats all I could come up with for the moment. ill post more if something comes to mind.

I’m mostly happy with the whole Shangri-la experience, it was an interesting place although I wouldn’t want to be stuck there. I don’t really have any new speculations about the place, but there are some question-marks about it all.

The illusion could obviously manipulate what people in it perceives as it was with my whole “avatar” situation. I got my markings and injuries from the trial, yet the burns remain now that we’ve left the illusion. Does that mean the test was real? If the guy that sacrificed himself for my trial was an illusion then wouldn’t my burns be gone along with the markings? And more importantly, if he wasn’t an illusion then shouldn’t I be dead? That is, assuming that the test was authentic.

One other thing I want to know more about is what actually happend when I escaped from my solitary confinement at “Aether”. My guess is that the mages did something to “freeze” me and then dumped me in the woods, but facts are lovely.

Hehe, what actually happened there might be revealed later. But for now it is an mystery =P
