Collision
Yey, my bicycle is broken! Now I can’t use it! Yey, hurray… or not.
This is what you get when you decide to do some idle bicycling just because of the nice weather after a long walk. I had just returned from an hour walk when I decided that I wanted to spend more time outside but I wanted some air to blow against my face. So I took my bike and just rolled out for a stroll, on a bike.
Well, everything was well until I was heading home. Beneath Ormberget there is a tunnel that goes toward the inner lake. That tunnel has always been a little tricky since it’s in bottom of a small hill and it’s pretty hard to see in or out of the tunnel. If you are going through the tunnel to the city, you seldom see if someone is coming around the corner and vice versa.
So there I was, on my bicycle just passing by a couple of pedestrians and turning into the tunnel when an man, in his late fifties or early sixties, comes out of the tunnel is high speed, I myself had quite some speed too and only one hand on the handlebar. Well, I tried to make way for him but my choice was to either crash into him or into the tunnel’s pre-wall and ditch which would certainly throw me straight into the wall. I might have been able to throw myself off my bike if I had had time enough to think about it, and then I wouldn’t have crashed into him and nobody would have been hurt and my bicycle would been working.
But well, I tried to go pass him, so when he collided he wouldn’t collide in me. Which when I think about it later, was pretty evil if I had succeeded. If I had succeded he would probably have flown over my bike and into the ditch on the other side of the road or even worse, headplant the asphalt behind me. Well, now he drove straight into my front wheel and both our heads collided and we crashed.
In some way we both were pretty lucky. In the speed we were going it could have ended pretty badly and the man’s glasses didn’t break. I got away with only a few bruises, a slightly sprained ankle, a sore shoulder and some other minor stuff while the man bruised his hand and also one of his nails were almost ripped off. And as you know, lips, nails and nosebleed are bleeds which bleeds an awfully lot even though it’s not that much blood. So it got quite messy for both of us.
Well, I was quite numb after our crash and so was he. I myself had my head spinning and a good hard headache which was pounding in my head. Since we were so close to my home I offered him some water and band aid before he went on his way. I think his head were spinning to but he didn’t say anything about it. Well, it was both our faults to not be more careful I think. Anyway, I cancelled The Outsiders after this since I didn’t think I would be able to think and focus too much, which I was quite right about.
When the numbness went away, I started to feel that I’ve not only just brusied myself and so on, but I had obviously managed to hurt my shoulder, something in my back, one of my wrists, my knee and obviously my head had a nasty surprise for me. Well, I must say that it feels kind of nice, except for the headache. But I wouldn’t been able to focus on the task. So I played some PS2 (small mindless games) and read book instead and rested. This is what you get when you want to get out and get some fresh air, maybe I should see this as an omen that I belong inside and should not be outside.
I need to fix my bicycle, summer is here and I’ll need it. Well, I’ll contact father later. He has by the way also trashed a vehicle. Not he specifically, but another guy has crashed their 1 billion glider they bought two months ago. It has a self-starting engine, and the engine falied to gain height and there wasn’t enough height to do an emergency landing so it crashed, luckily the person who flew it also survived without any serious wounds. But the plan is firewood (though Gliders are made of plastic), and is beyond all repair. Luckily they had an insurance (you must have one to fly a plane, just like a car) so they will get something back at least but this will leave them without a toy for the rest of the Glider Season, which is too bad.
Best regards,
Herid Fel
