Minor Changes
I’ve observed your characters and your ways of playing them since the beginning and as I’ve stated for some of you then; some things are mostly an experiment which will be subject to change as I try to find a solution which I think is good. Keisuke’s vision and Violet’s Lineage, is the two things I’m mostly thinking about but also this deaf person. I’ve observed you, the results and the hindrances’ and thought about it and well… we need some changes.
Or we need some minor changes here and there. Keisuke’s vision I think I’ve managed to get to where I want it. It almost works as regular vision except for the strange afterburner and the lack of details and of course that he is able to extend his vision range, but then again someone with a regular vision is able to do the same, but not as good and without loosing the rest of ones vision. The only thing that might be added here is that Keisuke’s world is filled with mist, or not really mist but maybe a dream-like fog. The world is a little bit blurry and this fog or mist is more like a reflection of the colours around him. That’s why his vision isn’t as good as a regular person either.
Hibiki has some problems with his deafness but when I thought about it, it’s almost stupid not to develop language which he can use easier. In all cultures with deaf people the deaf that have been allowed to survive have communicated through signs and even people who have grown to be deaf later in life have turned to sign language. Therefore I suggest that we add a personal sign language for Keisuke and Hibiki which is mostly consisting by hand arms, and face movement. Also Hibiki should get Read and Write Tarzeit. The rest of the group could still communicate with him by talking when it’s possible but I think it’s also plausible that most of you have learned words, in sign. This means that if you want to sign something, I would recommend for you to just use words. Like; Eat, now, rest, then, with an exception for Keisuke who would and should be able to sign fluently with his friend.
The biggest thing tough and my biggest experiment so far (since I’ve not gone too far on the Halor-storyline) is Demonic Lineage. It’s a hard racial ability to get a grip on and since it shouldn’t work like a regular leeching ability (vampirism and other dark-aligned powers and afflictions). Actually everything would have been so much easier if Demonic Lineage would have been used from the beginning, since that’s the only thing I’ve finalized. I would have preferred this but well, now it’s not like that so I just have to learn how to run before I can walk. Anyway the one who’ll suffer is the fool who chose this and not me.
Anyway, Demonic Lineage is supposed to work as a really dangerous tool which drains on its host and in some extent affects him or her. So far DL hasn’t worked too good in the group I think. To begin with PB still doesn’t understand what I’ve said about it but that’s to be expected since I’ve only said it once. Then I’ve not been able to put to much concrete rules and regulations in front of him so he isn’t really sure how it works anyway. I haven’t been quite sure how to balance it without making it to an evil leeching ability and not an evolutionary ability. But tonight I got a new idea which I am most certain it will work.
I will now split this post so I can get more opinions about my suggestions and criticisms’ here and my changes on the Demonic Lineage in the other post to divide them for the future.
Best regards,
Herid Fel
Well I like the vision so far, it’s not what I had in mind but it’s different and interesting.
This is something I have thought about before, both during sessions when communications have been difficult and off-session. I think that it would make sense for us to have developed something like this and it would definitely ‘ease up’ trying to talk to Hibiki.
I like this idea.
You got that this is something that’s always been and not something that you will start to do now, right?
Sounds appropriate. Should ease things up a bit.
Yea, I got that this is a ‘retcon’.
