Demonic Lineage – Part I

As usual this is a subject to change, but not as much as before. I still need to test the ability to its full and regular extent and not just PB’s limited way of “using” the ability as a toy. However it is to know that Demonic Lineage is a really powerful ability which is not just ability, it is also a permanent part of your character which might as well kill you and probably will kill you if you don’t heed yourself.

This ability is separated into four stages. The first stage – where you just have awoken your ability and it’s completely impossible to control, the second stage, where your ability evolves and three other forms appear and you start to get control over the ability, and the third stage when you are finally in control of your ability but only have one regular form and your normal human body have started to become demon, and the fourth stage when you have fully became a demon and are directly connected to the Multiverse and are more powerful than ever before¹.

What you first need to understand about Demonic Lineage is that it does not only change your body, it changes your character in most ways. Its appearances, his way of thinking, his properties and skills and all of his senses, there is almost nothing except the soul which isn’t changed during its effect. This is a really important part of the ability if you want to play with it and play it accordingly. You change; you don’t apply armour or a tool, YOU CHANGE.

For those who’s been strongly affected by something which change your way of thinking radically – which all humans have been affected to at some point of their lives, if they are over the age of 20 – then you should at least understand that even though you change how you think something, you are still the same person yet not the same person. Call it a radical mood swing if you like. Only that this mood swing also has some uses to it.

In the first stage, which PB completely jumped over just to try to play around with something without gaining the basic knowledge about it first, you change without any control over the ability a number of times here and there. This is the most harmless stage you could say since you don’t change too much and you only gain abilities and nothing else. It’s visible on you that something is different but other than that it’s pretty harmless compared to the other stages. But since we won’t have too much to deal with this stage anymore I will skip the rest of the explanations of that stage, except that this stage is finished already.

To play the second stage you need to understand how it changes you and since it’s not been to clear I will just describe the thinking. The visual effects aren’t important right now…

In the demonic form your changes will be the smallest. Tough you will se the world from another perspective, a higher ground. You will feel superior and invincible and your self esteem will grow as well as your confidence. You will also in some extent see every human as lower than you, and you might not be aware that you will think of humans an “humans” and not as “him or her” you won’t think yourself as a human, and if you do, you will see yourself as above human, a better human being. But to clarify you won’t suddenly believe that you are The Hulk – King of Men but you will gain a great boost. Say that you are a noble, you will suddenly feel like a half-good amongst mortals. Not invincible, but just better, not necessarily a lot better, but just better than everybody else. So if you were a bitch before you will be a super bitch now. Other than that you will think more objectively and worldly things won’t affect you as much. This applies for all four forms.

In the violent form your thoughts will immediately become more aggressive and violent. You are more simple minded in the sense that if you destroy the obstacles before you; you will win. You won’t become stupid but all the violent and more aggressive actions will have a higher appeal than otherwise. If you felt superior and invincible before you feel like a god and unstoppable now. You will also be less tolerant of everything and your patience will be lower than before. You will also become sadistic in some extent and violence will stimulate you more than before. Note that this still applies to your characters personality, so you will still be yourself only more violent version of yourself. And with aggressive I don’t mean that you will jump onto every one you see and punch him in the face, you just do things and act in a rough and aggressive way. Not to mention that you will feel a warm satisfying feeling in your chest, this is anger and rage waiting to be transformed into destruction.

In the horror form you will change into a devious bastard, you could say. You will be filled with hate and despise which will feel like a cold icy feeling in your bones. You will still feel a lot superior to everyone else, but you will not feel invincible. You will be more suspicious of everyone and everything and se threats in the smallest of things. You won’t be unrealistic but you will always assume that people will turn on you. You will be come a little more laid-back and planning and more passive and suggestive than otherwise. You will also resort to lies more often and blame others if you can. You will also be more cunning in the ways of making plans and have a better vision of the whole picture and a really obsessive behaviour with having everything under control and knowing everything. You will also feel a frustrated most of the time if you aren’t completely alone with no people, animals or anything living around you.

The paranormal form is the form which will make you feel more superior to any of the forms. You will feel untouchable and like you where meant to control and make destiny. You want to affect everyone around you and you will feel like a royalty with its servants. Nobody is on the same level as you and you will demand a lot of respect. You will also like to toy with this just for the pleasure of it with no particular reason to it. Your lust as well as your desire will become much higher to the point of agony if you don’t satisfy your needs. The lust will always be apparent in you like the beating of a second heart which screams for fulfilment. You will also be more fascinated and appreciative of all things you experience and see and most likely put more value in it. You could say that you’ll turn to a super bitch King or Queen with this. Being alone in this form will most likely be more painful than having a knife in your chest.

This is how you must think and feel when you have Demonic Lineage. You will transform, and if you just apply this to your characters normal behaviour i.e. extend or decrease your personality according to your new thought pattern you should be able to live it out more. You might be aware, like a young man full of lust might be aware that he actually just wants to be intimate and not love the woman he meets in a bar but still he goes for it, that your urges and new passions might not be fully real – just the passion of the moment. Even so, say that you turn into the paranormal form to have some aid convincing someone to do what you say, when you change, you suddenly realise that you don’t need to convince him. Why should you? You smile at the person and instead start to seduce him or just try to force him to dance in the heat or whatever.

As for the more game technical view of DL it’s a little bit trickier. What I describe above is mostly guidelines for the player to act along with his character and have in mind. But sometimes I will force you into the demonic lineage or I will make your character do stuff you didn’t want to do, without even telling you about it. Because the DL will give you power and it give you also the strength and confidence to be able to do stuff. But also it’s addictive and works like a strange drug which you have an unlimited supply of. Without any of the forms you will feel helpless and naked after a while since you don’t feel the surge of your superiority and your perspective will be affected. Not to mention that you will think more clearly in the DL forms.

I have now changed DL so the regular form has not all the bonuses. The regular form will be just regular, and the positive thing of the regular form is that it doesn’t affect you as much as the others. In the others you will get one or two bonuses except for the possibility to use the forms special ability. And since DL is a progressive ability which is a burden but also a tool it will work with modifications. You will get modifications when you use your abilities and also your abilities will at the same time grow stronger. The modifications are negative modifications on properties mostly. So not only does your power grow, but it might grow too fast if you don’t think and act and therefore you might be a demon before you know it.

You will also have completely different properties in DL as of now. You will get a extra sheet which is your demonic properties. These will have no relation to your usual properties and they will be the same no matter which form you will have. They will affect your skills tough. If you have a lower property in DL than in your human form and you have a skill which is requires a value which will be lowered in DL your skill will be a lower level in DL too. You will tough use SC and MC of your character which is the same no matter which form you’re in. In DL your Actions, Movement, Initiative and resistance and the like will also be affected as well as your damage bonuses. Your properties and skills in DL will grow in DL, and at a much, much faster rate than usual.

Note that the form and the abilities used in the form as well as the time spent in the form will not only affect how much stronger the form will become but also how much your human psyche, and soul will suffer. It will always have a noticeable effect on your human form that you’ve used DL. And in the second stage you only need to transform about a hundred times – sometimes less, sometimes more depending on some certain rolls and shit – before you will evolve again to a half-demon.

The third and last playable stage is the half-demon stage. You are no longer human an will in your regular form look like demon with some certain characteristics depending on your characters looks and the like. You will no longer think as a human or work as a human and your body will begin to change to demonize itself. You will also be able to enhance yourself i.e. transform to your power form which will be your strongest form from the second stage. This form will be a more powerful version and more characteristic version of the previous form and with more abilities and powers. It will also be a lot harder to hide your characters affliction and your personality and urges have now become a lot stronger than it was before.

But this is not all, what appears almost instantly when you evolve is a voice, or rather a whole new persona within you. This is an entity born from your actions and psyche which has started to evolve and will ultimately, kill you. You have given birth to a real demon which awaits its spawning time from your body. You will be able to talk and communicate with this being but also be prepared to fight with it since it will try to control much.

It is possible to remain in the third stage for quite long, but it’s impossible to do this by regular means. But well, that’s more for another time.
