Computers once again…

Today has been a very, very, very frustrating day. Well, I did, for some reason decide to upgrade my Graphics Card on my computer from a relatively cheap card for barely 600 SEK to a full fledged card for about 2 000 SEK. And as usual when you have with computers to do, they always have a nasty surprise for you.

I bought a graphics card which is one of the best you can get for a decent price and a HDMI-cable to be able to connect it to my television. Everything seemed nice and everything until I actually tried to install the fucking shit.

So I opened my box and replaced my old graphics card with the new one and then I realized; Shit, I need more power cords. My PSU didn’t have enough cables to supply the Graphics Card which needs FOUR connectors of my three connectors which none were free for the moment. Luckily I had another more powerful PSU which I looted from a previous computer so I used this instead.

I don’t know why, how or when it happened but after I had finally managed to get everything in place and start up my computer with my new graphics card, the first thing that happened when I started up was that I nearly became deaf. Something had gone terribly wrong and the sound was NOT working properly. I tried this and that and this again only to fix everything and this nearly drove me mad.

For about seven hours I tried every possible solution here and there and here again until I managed to find the problem. My expensive sound card had been broken somehow. Well, at this point I was so annoyed that I was only happy to be able to go back to the regular two-channel sound I have on my motherboard and finally be able to use my new Graphics.

Well, I will visit OC some day and see if they can fix my card, if there is anything wrong with it. I’m just assuming it’s the card since everything finally was solved when I completely removed the card from the PCI-slot. It could also be the PCI-slot that is broken, but I doubt it. But it’s a possibility, so it might need some testing first. Either way I need a new sound card.

As if this wasn’t enough, my OS is completely fucked up now… Or not completely fucked up, not like PB’s or Foppa’s computers usually are but I have some minor software problems because of all my attempts to fix this shit. So I’ll need to reinstall the OS someday soon. But that won’t be for a while yet I think.
