The End of A Dark Life
Well, it seems that A Dark Life has been terminated. Well, actually that was a choice I was prepared for since I’ve now actually finished the most important part of the campaign and explained about everything of the vampiric society. Since the last phase only consisted of story for the characters we decided, for good and for bad, to end it here since people already had half of their foot out of the boat.
All in all ADL was a great success I think. I learned to build up a campaign in a good way and also how to create a steady pace in which I want thing to unravel. Even though I lost some interest in everything there towards the end it still worked out pretty well I think.
I’m not sure if I will write any more short stories to ADL though. But maybe if the time and energy is there, which it probably won’t be since I will now transfer my attention to our new group which hopefully will be a more focused group without people dreaming of next characters and losing their focus of their current character.
Well, well… I will now review all of the ADL data that I’ve collected and make some changes to the society and the race here and there then finalize this. So you can say that the results of this campaign is a new race, ready and complete with history, workings and society and all. Of course it’s possible to expand it with more families, sibships and things like that but that’s like every country and place, you can’t or shouldn’t do everything since that will make it harder to create something different or something new in the future if a great idea comes up.
Well, so what have we learned from this really? I cannot speak for you but for myself I think I need to push my players more into their characters and not let them just fool around believing that what they do is appropriate. I need to somehow emphasize everything even more so my players play what they are supposed to play and not an abomination which in the game would seem like a total misfit, especially when I made a clear point that you would BE normal vampires and not abnormal ones.
I also need to at the same time allow freedom in a bigger extent, but even so it seems like I need to explain to you your freedom to so you won’t rely on my imagination all the time too. In this sense you might be able to do what you want to do in an easier way.
Well, all in all we continue our struggle for supreme gaming… even though we still tries not to take it too far… or so we say =).
Best regards,
Herid Fel
Well I thought the campaign was very good and well made , and I liked what I saw of youre society and vampires in total.
Its probably the best campaign so far that I have played aswell , and I will probably create a vampire in the future.
The campagin was interesting and mostly fun, but as I’ve said 100 times so far vampires don’t seem to be “my cup of tea”. I think they are cool, but playing them is something else.
Haha, you are so offensively defensive. You don’t need to defend yourself every time you know since criticism from me is meant as a reminder not as taunt.
Well, you can view my actions any way you like. I don’t see it that way, if I didn’t like your vampires I would tell you so.
Believe me, at most I will keep my mouth shut… I won’t simulate opinions.
Very enjoying and interesting campaign. Rather different setting from everything else we have played so far. A different touch to it all, a little bit more… Evil.
Also a good introduction to the society, even though it might have been good to spend a bit more time in it there at the end. But ending it was most likely for the better so that we can concentrate on these new characters.
Hopefully a fierce country will be as good, maybe not as prepared as ADL, don’t really expect it since ADL was something special. But that doesn’t mean I don’t want you to.
A fierce country will hopefully also introduce some societies, so in some sense it will be the same, but still different. Vampires are as they are.
I don’t understand this sentence at all. It have almost nothing do do with what I said and again it’s an offensive defense. But since you cannot understand what I say unless I over express it I will now overly clear with what I said.
– I did not say that you disliked my vampires, nor did I mean it like that (why you even would think that is beyond me)
– I stated that you didn’t play your vampire as a vampire would act, feel and react. You defended yourself with saying that they weren’t “your cup of tea”. And before that you said it like “I’ve said 100 times…” it doesn’t matter if you have used all your time to say this a billion times, this is not a personal attack so you don’t need to defend yourself every time something is directed at you. Everyone have understood that being mean or evil isn’t your “cup of tea” by now.
So to sum it up. What I wrote in the post was meant as a review of the whole experience; campaign, efforts and everything. All my critisism was meant as a reminder and not a provocation. If you will defend yourself everytime I do this, you might as well choose another game master right now since you will drive me insane by never being able to just read and take it in and always see it as an argument or discussion. I have misjudged you on many points but I don’t think that’s your purpose.
And as I said, I am satisfied with the results even though some had a harder time than others to play a vampire. This is to be expected since I doubt that you have had any demands on you at all in Jokkmokk since I do not think highly at all about your RPG-standards up there.
Yeah it will be in some sense the same but as you say, different in total from ADL. I cannot lead you through society as neatly as I did in a predetermined campaign but I can try to make the society alive around you as much as possible and try to control your steps so you will encounter as much as possible.
I will still leave a mystery to everything. Nothing will be set in stone and nothing will be definite from the beginning. You need to learn and become one with the society.
The hardest part for you and Daniel will be to be a part of a society you in general know nothing about and probably don’t have the proper mindset for yet too. Well, it will be a great challange for you but most likely it will be like that for all of you.
