Some Thoughts

I’ve fallen behind I see. Well, yesterday I planned to write some more posts but for some really strange reason I’ve been really, really tired the last days. Most likely I’ve been eating too little or something like that. There might also be that I’m sick or something, but well, whatever. Well, this is as most of my posts about Arr-Pee-Gee so it might not be of interest for everyone.

Lately there’ve been a lot of talk about concepts and new characters here and there. I personally dislike when my players talk about the next things after a campaign, but in this case I said in the beginning that this campaign that you had to do this my way and then you’ll get some freedom. So it’s no wonder that you’ll all (with an exception of Ankan) have started to think about everything else other than focus on the campaign.

So what will happen after the campaign? Well, we have The Apocalypse, your new characters and also I might be prepared to create a campaign for the new races and Exile. But so far it’s too hard to determine what will be most appreciated or what will be of most use.

If we create a new group some are interested in creating vampires, other a Taraian and then most likely a Menar or Katir. Needless to say that group will be a real mess. Questions like why would a Taraian be outside their Holy Country and on what quest? And how twisted is he if he would team up with two vampires? Which leads to the question, why would two vampires travel with humans if they don’t have any intention of killing and feeding or using them for their own purposes, purposes which I think aren’t the same as the rest of the group?

I think you’ll see what I’m pointing at. This will lead to A LOT of problems that should be fixed in one way or another. But this group would be highly dysfunctional if not good reasons are thought up and puzzled into this mess. If this just would have been a completely normal group with normal standards and then two vampires it would have been easier or just one vampire. Even though I said that travelling with humans or any creature of the day, is possible it doesn’t mean they do it like it’s something everyone does. As you might have understood right now, vampires ALWAYS have a higher purpose. Just fooling around and messing is not appreciated in their society, like Itik, because then you will get in trouble quite a lot.

Well, whatever those problems will be solved later. What we NEED to do is to decide what to do or not to do. First things first, after A Dark Life, shall we play the campaign or shall we wait another year? There is a good chance that a lot will change just because of my coming modifications of the History and most likely I will moderate all history accordingly. You might also have a chance to change some things that MIGHT have an effect on the Apocalypse. No promises made.

Second is that, if we are going to play The Apocalypse or not, what will we do after or instead? Will we continue to create this fucked-up group you’re creating or should I even spend any energy in a campaign about the Xin’Ar and Xin’Er and Exile as a whole or just simply skip it? Otherwise I will leave Exile and these races an enigma for the group to explore by playing and in other words limit the races to 6 races until you’ve understood enough to play them.

Well, that’s what I have in mind anyway.

Best regards,
Herid Fel

Well I feel like postponing the Apocalypse actually although this would probably mean playing without Daniel(?).

Second is about what to do after ADL , I feel like another campaign could be fun , depending how forced it is , since it would be fun to see youre new creations although its abit frustrating to have no say or know nothing about it basically before you start.(not that ADL been boring in anyway so far , its been a very fun experience)

So basically if we chose to play this Xin’Ar , Xin’Er possible campaign I would like to see abit more freedom of choice , well its still awhile left until ADL campaign is over so I guess this would be best to bring up on a meeting of some sorts.

Although I dont get where you get youre assumptions on what concepts people are going to play in this “new-group” since the concepts ive told Daniel(the only one that asked) about is concepts I already made known alot earlier than ADL and these arent the only ones I have stored in my shelf so to say , but ofcourse I understand what you say.. it will be alot harder to combine a group nowadays especially in epoch one since the countries and such are more isolated.

But as mentioned earlier , a meeting to discuss these kind of things would probably be the best.

Tabun. If he doesn’t decide to stay and Study English B. But don’t count on it.

As for your character I know you have different concepts, but then again… people play their characters longer and longer nowadays I’m only looking an the facts I have before me, no assumptions, just facts to make you all think about WHAT to do or NOT to do so I get you thinking now.

Discussion is already in motion, this is a discussion where you should voice your thoughts so we have something more concrete to look at after the ADL-campaign.

And you won’t play a Xin’Ar or Xin’Er in the campaign and the freedom is a lot higher than ADL but still controlled and focused. But I might change this fact later, this is only the early stages of my ideas. Nothing is finished.

And you will NEVER have anything to do with creation of races or base lore in Nianze. I will always make this. The only thing you will have a finger with is the more rule-connected questions. You are not able to have my vision of something. I have a vision and all you provide to this are opinions.

    Just to make it a little bit more clear;
Do we want to play The Apocalypse now or later this year, since the changes might have some effect on the world?

Even if you choose to ignore the rest of the post this is the most crucial question for me right now.

I want to postpone the apocalypse

Personally, I want to play the character I’ve been thinking about lately, so for me the fucked-up group seems like the most attractive option.

In a way I’ve had a long break from RPG since I couldn’t get any feeling in Karnak (I think it was the failure of playing out HoS that was the cause to this b.t.w.). So for me playing in the apocalypse seems like something I would want to postpone, until, and perhaps if, I’m back to the game so to speak.

Don’t know how I feel about the campaign about the new races, I could play the character I have been thinking about maybe? A.t.m. he is pretty open in various aspects so I think it could fit atleast.

Hmmm, well I can tell you that even I don’t know exactly what I’d do when the course is over with. Ideally I’d like to find something else to study, but there are no guarantees. If I don’t then I’d have to be looking for a job I guess.

As for postphoning the apocalypse or not, I think I’ll jump on the bandwagon and say ‘yes’.

I did voice my opinion about vampires in mortal groups right from the start, it doesn’t exactly feel like the ideal companions. Most sane people would probably ditch the vampires at the first chance, and if they didn’t well…. I imagine party dynamics will be a bit weird, and quite dangerous.

Also, even though I really feel like playing this taraian it’s not my only idea. And the background could even be made so that I’ve cut the ties to my people.

At any rate, I thought the whole “group concept” deal was to make things work? I agree with PB that we should have a meeting about this.

I think the “new race campaign” could be fun, but would that exclude our concepts? If so I’m not so sure anymore, I’d like to know more about the limitations then.

No, it wouldn’t. Vampires might feed on humans, but it’s quite easy to make this work. Vampires are mean, sadistic creatures but they so have feelings and morality, not to say a lot of laws to abide by. A Day Traveller or a vampire in a group might have a higher directive and a strong goal. But the thing that might complicate everything is honesty, secrets and loyality.

Also, even though I really feel like playing this taraian it’s not my only idea. And the background could even be made so that I’ve cut the ties to my people.

Sure, there is a lot of resolutions to this problem depending on what your goal is with your character. Do you just want to experience a Taraian in Nianze or do you want to go to all the twelve countries as an Taraian and do like everything and then in the end gain your Taraian Katana? That sounds unlikely. If you just want to play a fun character it’s possible to put the setting in a place good for your character. Like I discussed with PB, a whole group from and in Taraien, which I’ve mentioned to you too. If everyone are in some way in Taraien then maybe it could be done in one way or another, depending on what people want and are willing to do.

At any rate, I thought the whole “group concept” deal was to make things work? I agree with PB that we should have a meeting about this.

If you didn’t understand it from my previous comments this IS the group discussion. As long as ADL is in motion this will be the discussion so we know the alternatives and people get thinking and we have about half of the questions asked already.

I think the “new race campaign” could be fun, but would that exclude our concepts? If so I’m not so sure anymore, I’d like to know more about the limitations then.

I have no idea whatsoever. I haven’t made anything yet. And my initial idea is that you AREN’T one of the Xin’Ar or Xin’Er, but will somehow be involved with them through this campaign. What I need to know is the interest and priority of this, otherwise I will skip it and not even try to develop it further. So with your attitude, I would say I would skip the campaign since you are too negative about it.

As stated before, I don’t have many ideas yet about what to do when ADL is finnished if it will not be possible to continue with Shurren.

Though I think it might be a good idea to postpone the Apocalypse and see where the new changes lead. I am interested in the new races so I would like to play that new campaign of yours.

Well, as I might have explained some times by now. This is to get you thinking and for the group to discuss it’s options.

I am interested in the new races so I would like to play that new campaign of yours.

Well, one is interested but most of you don’t show too good responses to this so I will trash that idea… now.

Yes, I will postpone The Apocalypse then to a better time.

I want to play a fun and interesting character, and I think a Taraian fits the bill. The katana is something I want as a player. Not necessarily as a character, it depends on how the concept ends up. It’s a cool weapon and a symbol of status, but if I’d end up not “pursuing a career” then it wouldn’t really fit, would it?

My goals with the character are rather flexible, the basic idea simply appeals to me.
