A Dark Life – The Campaign
This evening I sat down to work a little on the campaign and I just happened to want to clean up a little. First I cleaned out the binder from some old stuff then I printed out all the planned sessions so far, which is 6 pages and then started to work on everything around the campaign when I got this fabulous idea to write a plotline and campaign information document to overlook everything.
I must say I’m really proud over my work today. I have somehow taken my own planning to a new level. I have rewritten and adjusted some of the details in the Vampire document, which is about 8-10 pages (not finished yet). I am adjusting everything so everything about the race is in that document. Their inner workings, their background and history, the racial workings, abilities, development and society, written from their own perspective of course =).
So far everything of that information is in Swedish, but I think that the Vampire Document might be translated in the future. This part is a vital part to make my world a complete world with all the different angels, culture and societies. Though I need to finish the rest of the countries too and write them down before that happen anyway =).
However the document I’m proud of is the Campaign information which includes a synopsis1. And the things in this campaign that isn’t in the race document. It contains plotlines, characters, special abilities and explanation of how I want things to be and the order of things and so on.
It’s a great overview which will make it easier for me to control the sessions. If everything goes according to plan this campaign will be about 12 sessions long, as I said earlier, since the contents of every session is clearly listed and just waiting for elaboration to a full fledged session-document with all the details and the facts which I cannot know and be sure of right now. And the document is written in the way so no personalities are set other than some SLPs so it can be played with three other vampires later.
Some of the sessions though are planned to either be divided into either a whole day session or two evening sessions. There are also one or two single session, per person, planned. Note that the end of the campaign is open to you and depending on what end it will have it will be open to continue with these on eventual leftover-threads and plots that might have developed into a new campaign or just a regular free-form adventure playing. Also know that it will be possible to play new vampires and skip this “growing up” phase after you’ve finished this.
If someone like, say Foppa, would like to play a vampire, he cannot play a full fledged vampire. He can play as your prodigy and until he’s been aware of everything you’ve been informed of in this campaign then I don’t want him or anyone else for that matter, to play a vampire. Not until I’ve finished the racial document so everyone can play, if even then… I think it’s better to experience it.
Well, however, tomorrow I’ll be finishing the Race Document and then write the detailed session plan for “This Is Your Life”. Now though, I’m late for bed so I think I’ll go to bed now. Note that I will only write short stories to until the forth session which is named “To Be or Not To Be”. After that session I won’t write any more stories most likely.
And yeah, when we’ve finished this campaign you are free to read the campaign info. Anyone who is interested in reading it can mess me when I’m at my working computer and I’ll send you the document if you want to read it. Note that if any of the current players in this camaign whishes to read it I will send it to them as well, though that probably will ruin everything and not explain anything about the society at all =P.
Best regards,
Herid Fel
An overview or plan for all the sessions in the campaign ↩
I’d like to read those documents, but I think I’d rather wait until we’ve finished the campaign.
Well, the only document so far that’s avaiable for view is the Campaign Information.
Today I’m going to fix the racial information and the session-plan for session 3.
