The Apocalypse

Well, that was it. The day that was supposed to be the last day of the Arc went down pretty well I think, even though it could have been better. But well, it’s one experience at least to add to the memory. Some problems were solved and others have just begun to unravel.

Dual Wield have finally gotten a solution! I’ve now added it to be an ability level skill where each level grants a technique possible to perform with two weapons. I will perfect and finish the details of this later when things have settled down. Most likely there will be some more skills that will follow this example. The only problem that I can see right now, but that I think I will be able to solve without too many difficulties are how to make the skill work as a speciality skill but that will come later.

But the real problem that has started to emerge, which actually isn’t a problem, is The Apocalypse. Now, Then and After. The question of what to do with it now, to finish all the Short Stories now or later and if I should unlock all the Nianze News and write one final news just to sum it up to the precise point of the Initiation of the Apocalypse.

The question of then is how to perform The Apocalypse. I have several ideas and I kind of know what I want to have but I’m not entirely sure. I do need to prepare most of the scenarios and so on which might destroy one factor or another. Right now my main idea is to have three scenarios and one final stage scenario. The three scenarios should be divided into three different angles and each angle will determine what will happen and in some extent even limit the characters. I’m not sure about this, this could be a really mastodon work this late, but well…

So my thought is that maybe draw up a rough sketch for The Apocalypse, then make sure to make the setting and just decide which events that are this groundbreaking events and list the characters possible to play for each scenario. Then we will play these scenarios as intended and I will make corrections afterwards and then maybe we’ll play it again later.

What concerns me is to get it right. I do not remember all my first ideas from five years ago, and many of them cannot happen anymore although what hasn’t changed is the only way to solve this puzzle and the purpose of this battle. Everything is tied together and hopefully I can tie everything together in this campaign but I’m afraid that I will miss some details or forget some essential thing that was meant to be of importance. Therefore this scenario will probably get remade several times before I am satisfied with it.

Well, something that is important to know is that this campaign is not about depth and social events. This is about saving the world from an almost certain doom and to survive at all costs. The campaign will most likely jump over all the non essential parts and I will force and shuffle people around and fill in the blanks with story-telling. It’s essential that all players know everything and believe it or not, meta-gaming IS encouraged. How you came to the conclusions you draw in your meta-gaming will be added later, but I want you to know that this campaign is almost like a battle between you and me. Or at least that’s what I’ve intended.

Those who won’t participate in the Apocalypse and want to know the rough lines and my ideas for it might contact me. But know that I won’t let you play the Apocalypse if I tell you.

The last thing is after The Apocalypse. Say that you manage to win1 then the World will continue. It will be really strange and I’m not sure if the planet even will look the same afterwards (it probably will…) but then survivors shall be named or grouped out and the new planet will need to be rebuild because not much will survive (if anything). Then we will have the alternative to play in the “new” Nianze. This Nianze will only be a setting, not a timeline. I will most likely jump a couple of hundred years into the future so there is society again but well… It will also be possible to play the KES group or start from the first Epoch, which will be quite unnecessary if you managed to win.

The KES group… this is a tricky thing. I hope to find time to play with this group, but I think that it might be something we will have to do to a campaign after the Apocalypse if you still want to play it. Otherwise we might lose very precious time for some more quality gaming with a bigger group. What concerns me about this group though is the feeling that might be lost after such a long time and knowing how it will end might ruin it too. One thing that will be sorry though is that even if Karnak or Serena would achieve status enough for being able to participate in the Apocalypse, they won’t be able to do so in this run since we won’t know the outcome by then. Well, I hate leaving a group like this, but I am really occupied with a lot of stuff right now and actually I want to do even more than I’m doing.

Well, this is initial concerns right now…
