ElSe – The First Arc – Part II

So now the review is over. And what can I say… it took quite some time and it drained somewhat on my powers in going through this twice. Even though they had their differences it’s still a little bit repeating to go through it twice in one day. But all in all I think we managed to get through everything pretty good.

So what did you think about the story of The First Arc? I liked it pretty much even though it could have been even more interesting. The events floated together and not even one thing felt out of place or wrong like it sometimes gets when I don’t plan a session. And god how many preparation pages I have!! All in all there are over thirty pages! This is quite impressive and if I ever wanted to write a book about this it’s detailed enough to do so too.

A summary of the whole thing is that Eldtofs and Jay – both Starcrossed – begins a journey in Lanticka when they arrive by Dragon. They have come to have a vacation and to see the marvellous legendary blooming of the Gaia Tree. On their travels through Nilheim they encounter monsters in many forms. All from devious wolfs’ to strange people demanding money, also known as robbers and nobles. Finally they arrive in Örebro, almost broke and tries to take a boat up-river. Strangely enough they find a boat that is willing to take them and their journey begins.

Meanwhile the young Serena and her brother have finally set out on their first adventure. Being restricted merchant children of a house with great ambition is dull for two adventurous minds that have read all too much stories. Serena also have been born with the ability to use magic but due to her fathers reluctance to let her go as well as her own reluctance to spend her entire life studying she’s been able to develop some small Wild Mage skills on her own. But when she starts to reach the critical point her father finally gives in to let her go on a small adventure, mostly to see his magician friend from the Mage’s Guild to help her out and so they start to travel to Tveköping, the closets merchant town.

Jay and Eldtofs run into some trouble along the way when they are stuck in a small Ferry Station when they encounter a couple of Hireswords that are trying to sham some poor people that are trying to take shelter during the Day of Evil. They try to intervene but only end up in burning down a Tavern and getting some new powerful enemies. After saving all the people but unfortunately allowing the Hireswords to escape they continue their journey to the capitol city.

Serena and her company have now started to close in on The Holy Briar that is protecting Midheim when they are attacked by some robbers. Their body guard and her young brother try to fight while Serena and her servant Sture manages to escape unharmed. Unfortunately heir brother and guard are captured and they travel alone into Midheim in great distress. They soon get a letter from the guard that says that they were saved by a strange Orc and that they are going to the capitol city to wait for them. With this relieving news they continue their journey instead of going back home.

The both parties arrive in the great capitol city and find themselves some accommodations before seeing the great city and searching or waiting for what they came for. Much actually happens here, Eldtofs get attacked by the Elf she angered during their trip and Serena gets in a fight with Sture and tries to run away on her own. Both incidents end pretty good anyway with Serena back home safe and sound (?) and Eldtofs saved by her pretended brother Erenik.

Then the event that brought them all together… The Blooming of Death. Every one and a half year The Gaia Tree blooms and this blooming is quite famous for its beauty and for the incredible herbs you can make out of the petals and flowers that falls during this night. But this blooming was special… not only did both the gods attend as usual but the Phoenix made an appearance and then everything grew nasty as the moon of creation, Voden, appeared.

One thing lead to another and in the end Eldtofs saved Serena from an almost certain doom and then later, when they were brought to shelter by a mystical man named Kristian, Eltdofs and Jay tried to demand some reward for their deed. Needless to say they got A reward in the end and ended up body guards for the poor girl too.

Hum, this was about half-way on the adventure that led to the joining of Eldtofs and Serena and after that the story expands in a much of cause and effect-manner. Most things that happened before they met had an effect afterwards but also some new interesting stuff happened and led to different things that were mostly strange and in the end they parted ways.

Some elements that were used during the sessions were only coincidences depending on where you all where and due to Eldtofs most things that happened had to make themselves known in her presence. The monster upraising and the evil new creatures that had appeared, and even the interrogation that most of you were exposed to were only due to a manhunt the People’s Guard of Katia had on a special culprit, nothing special.

Though you both missed a lot of rumours about what happened around you they still happened, but things as villages were a little hard to avoid. Even so I am pretty satisfied with the effect I managed to weave into the surroundings. But only know that it will get worse, much worse, in the second arc. And much harder to avoid or miss.

Well however, the start of The Second Arc though will be a little bit controlled and forced. This mostly because of destiny but tomorrow I will go into what happens now until then. Due to the shortage of time I had to plan this instead of just focusing on the past experiences I will concentrate on this short amount of time.

When you all meet again much will have happened, but in the same nothing. The world is in chaos and it’s no denying it anymore. A war has broken out which affects the country, which in its current state is weak without a ruler. The Eye is not helping in international affairs for some reason and Destiny is demanding a lot from its Starcrossed and everything seems to collapse on into itself. Not to mention that monsters now are spawning from thin air and people are turning evil every day. One other thing that is strange is that Hadan’s appearances are getting shorter and shorter in-between and now it seems like it shows up twice a month!

Well, well, the world is clearly ending and now it’s no time for anything other than the extreme measures to gain the extreme results. And it seems like something vital for the worlds success is missing…

Well, we will also discuss your characters and the points previously mentioned as well as do some major improvement on your characters. If I manage to do The Second Arc right there will be much fighting both social and non-social fighting so your progress will be forced, but forced progress is even in this world, very dangerous if you don’t use special artefacts.
