Dexter – 3×05 – Turning Biminese
Well, this is a true confirmation of my thoughts about what the series was turning into. As I earlier speculated Dexter and Miguel are going to cooperate in a fashion where Miguel gives the means and Dexter does the killing…

Contains spoilers for all five episodes, I recommend that you see this episode before you read this if you want to avoid as much spoilers as possible.
This is not a good turn. It doesn’t make the series bad, but it only finalizes the last of my suspicion of this series turning into a drama show with a killer touch. What I really didn’t like in this episode was Miguel’s way of manipulating Dexter so easy. If it would have been a role-playing session I would have called it illogical with the current build-up.
For example, Dexter is caught killing Freebo by Miguel. He got out of there in a really strange way. I mean, an DA letting him go and thus making the WHOLE accident HIS skeleton in the wardrobe? Dexter sure would get in trouble if anyone where to found out but the thing is how illogical he handled the situation. This would alert anyone who kills that this man have something more to hide and is used to have secrets, dark secrets. And most of all, he is used to be able to keep secrets secret too. A person like that should send the vibes to Dexter if he really is as paranoid as he seems.
Then Miguels recurring tries to befriend him and give him the bloodied shirt and say that he understands him and all the time pointing out about him having his guard up. A person like that would be dangerous to have to deal with in Dexter’s position and therefore he wouldn’t drop the guard so easily that he acts on what Miguel says during a social event…
It’s too obvious that he is trying to use reverse psychology to manipulate Dexter to act on his behalf. In other words he is obviously pushing and forcing which makes him dangerous, really dangerous for Dexter. Okay, his brother might be somewhat instable in his temper but he isn’t trying to manipulate someone. He is blunt and straightforward which makes him easy to deal with and also a lesser risk to Dexter than Miguel.
But every now and then people act before they think through everything in their usual personality without even having something bugging them or making them slow or anything. You just drop your guard slightly to squirm a little in your persona. In the first season Dexter seemed to have a tight grip on his persona, even though some understandable events made him instable for a moment. In the second season he still had this grip but then the series was almost spoiled by the f**king bitch Lila. Even so when in a state of mind, he doesn’t fault that personality, he just thinks a little different. Which makes me go “Ehy?!” when he fault his personality repeatedly when Miguel even though he every now and then even thinks how dangerous he is…
Well, the series is becoming what they tried to make out of the Bay-Harbour-Butcher thing that became a series on their webpage, The Dark Defender. A dark chaotic good character kills of the scum of the world while he have someone on the light side of the world make it possible and removes the traces after him. In other words, Dexter is not Dexter anymore and the series should change name to The Dark Defender and his Lawful Evil Manipulative Biatch.
