Short Story – The Gaia Blossom

Yes, those who were at the session Fate experienced the first really Nianzeish event ever I think. The blossom of the gigantic Tree of Life, Gaia. That is something that I made up when I reformed the story and the reason behind the world. Every country is supposed to have something really special, out of the ordinary stuff that only exists there. I’m not finished with all of that stuff but the most epical stuff is finished I think. However, we also know that this blossom had a quite deadly effect. Well actually… it wasn’t all…

Herid stood on the roof of the docking tower and looked towards Gaia. From this far up you could see all the way to the capital city of Lanticka. What a stupid choice of name, to choose the same name as the biggest port city in the same country. Some had got used to the new name by now but there were still people who refused to use the new name and still thought of their country as Katia. A hard cold wind made his cloak flicker but he didn’t care.

He looked at the huge mushroom-like figure in the northeast that was Gaia. The three planted to hold together the planet. Soon it would start and there was nothing he could do about it. He could still feel the effects of his last intervention with the world. Gude and Sate wasn’t happy about it but they had decided to let him go, he wasn’t sure why but he had his guesses. A few silent moments passed and then he could feel them moving. He almost instinctively shifted into the dark world but stopped himself. They weren’t after him, it was beginning.

Dan stood at the helm steering and the other three was discussing the proposal. Dan would have liked to join them in the discussion but he had the helm and couldn’t be distracted, not now. They were going in for landing but due to this special night they were to make a special turn around Gaia before going to the Docks. He looked at the instruments, all looked well. A little low on steam but the machinery should be turned off soon by the staff in the main cabin.

“Hey Dan, we are going down to the main cabin to watch the blossoms, be sure to give us a really nice view now, will ya!”, one of his comrades said as another opened up the hatch and started to climb along the rope-ladder strapped to the lower cabin. He grunted an answer and they all laughed gleefully at him. Damn them! He wanted to take a drink too and watch the blossom with a cute human girl or an elven woman. They were nice! But instead he had to be the one taking the shortest straw and ending up on helm duty during the landing! Life wasn’t fair. He sighed deeply; even though the upper cabin was small it still had at least a small view of the blossom, even though it was just two dirty windows instead of the ceiling to floor windows and no bar.

He smiled to him self, but he didn’t need a bar now would he? He had his special Lantorian Brandy hidden away in his trunk. He made sure that the helm was stable, and then locked it into position and turned around. He screamed, there was a man right behind him. He was long, but then all humans were long compared to a dwarf, and had a black cloak that hung around him like a shadow. He know this man! He was the one from the legends, the one man that had fought with the emperor, but the emperor had escaped him. He was death.

And that was the last thought Dan thought before he exploded as the zeppelin burst into flames and flew like a burning inferno through the sky.

Well, that was it. Nothing of the blossom, yes, but it happened at the exact same time and so on. It also gives away some hints about other things that might be interesting though I believe that only those who attended to the session actually understand what happened in this story, but then again everyone else is almost completely inactive so it doesn’t matter.

At what point in history did Herid send Death through a vortex? Was that before this or have you twisted the time a bit and described things in the future?
Otherwise, it might have been a long time ago. But if it was recently this Death figure is quite resilient…

So Herid knew about what was about to happen… Interesting. He doesn’t seem to be on very good terms with the gods though. Wonder how he know about it all in advance.

Vortex is not a direct portal, it’s not even teleportation. It’s a tunnel through Oblivion where it’s impossible to determine time and space outside the vortex. So you might end up five years into the future, or only instantly in another part of the world.

    Herid know much, yes, indeed.
