A Possible Short Story 3

Yet another short story, when I was about to start writing this I almost switched over to chapter seven of the myths instead but due to the lack of time to write the huge bits that’s left to rewrite I decided not to. I have finished about one third of the story and some parts of it needs to be revised a bit. As some of you might have discovered I’ve told what’s in that chapter every now and then due to the delay.

Well now, today we’re going to have another POV1 from yet another character in yet another situation. Well, let’s see what I’ve got then, here goes nothing!

He looked down on the port from the snowy hill as the sun slowly arose in the east. He looked north along the coast of the Ice River to see if there were many ice bergs floating in the river today. He was waiting for the day when the ice bergs had decreased enough for their boats to safely go over the river towards Lanticka. Lanticka, what a stupid name! Sounded too technical for him, he didn’t like it at all. Technology was weak and easily broken but even so the Lanticans all seemed to rely heavily on these… things.

A soft but determined sound of footsteps from the north hillside interrupted his thoughts and he looked towards the approaching men as they emerged from behind some trees. Egil and Tuva were walking towards him alongside with a muscular man with a harsh face and a observing look in his eye. Their eyes met and even though the man seemed old his eyes told him otherwise, he was a dangerous warrior. They stopped in front of him and they all saluted him, he returned the gesture.

“Sir, this man arrived on a boat this morning with new orders, sir!” Tuva said, obviously excited. They were all excited, if this were the order then all the waiting in the forest was over, finally. He smiled and turned his face against the new man, he couldn’t remember that they had sent this man with Lord Vadun, strange.

”So speak your name and rank soilder!” he said as he inspected the man suspiciously. He was there when the first boat went over to Lanticka, why couldn’t he remember this man? Maybe he was a traitor sent by The Magistrate? He decided not to jump to conclusions.

“My name is Rokan and my rank is First General of Vadun!” he said without adding the sir and if he were who he claimed to be, he didn’t need to. But anger arose inside of his chest, this man was a traitor! How could lord Vadun possibly have made him the First General after what his father had done? Obviously he didn’t hid his anger, because Egil and Tuva squirmed nervously. He calmed himself and tried to look nicer, but not nice. Rokan hadn’t even flinched.

”What happened to Bruno?” he asked calmly and looked deep into his eyes, not even trying to hide his despise for him.

”He’s been demoted after I defeated him, twice. Once in a Arena and the second time in a duel over the title of First General,” he said steady. He didn’t even seem nervous. As he mentioned the duel he smiled and slowly started stroking his short sword that he had had under his cloak.

”Lord Vadun sent me with new orders for you,” as he spoke he brought forth a sealed parchment and reached towards him. His eyes still looked into Rokans eyes, now in surprise. Had this OLD man defeated the young Bruno? He had been the best in Vadun and one of the few born strikers in the whole province. How was this possible? In his surprise he looked down on the parchment without realizing it only to look down on the seal of lord Vadun himself. To hide his disgrace he broke the seal and started reading it and as he read his anger returned stronger than before. He was supposed to follow the orders of Rokan?! This was absurd! He had been promised this and now this traitor gets to lead the invasion!

Well, that’s it. Most of the group knows Rokan. This have been planned for quite a while, in fact ever since I returned back from Japan, maybe even just before that, I don’t remember. However, I hope you enjoyed this story.

  1. Point Of View, it’s when all the reader is given is the information from he viewers eyes and thoughts, something I’ve picked up from Jordan

Well , I liked this one the most actually, but its probably just because we actually had some interaction with this one , so it was a fun read to see what happened to Rokan after the arena.

Must also point out that I like these short but yet insightful stories especially when its written in POV.

And also it would be fun to see more characters that we have met for example Mayaa especially since the war is drawing closer(if im not totally wrong).

You’re not wrong. The war is approaching, but Maaya is in a position to high to let you know what she thinks. And yet, Aguin won’t be in the short stories until the plot of Aguin has been taken into motion. I’m only writing about things you all know about or have had a part in or will be a part of, by your own request.

Right now, David is the only one knowing what is happening inside of Aguin, since he have read the NN006. So far I’ve written about the Succession, The Werewolfes and about the Debian war, these are all events you already could have figured out, and will be in the centere of (maybe not the werewolf, but you’ve been around one of them).
