Back to Anime
It’s been a while since I really was ploughing through anime but it seems I’m back there again. Lately I’ve been watching a lot of series from the west and such but now it seems like my interest in those have ceased and I’m back to search for inspiration and entertainment from anime.
I’ve actually found quite a lot of new-old series and movies to watch that gives me ideas for plotlines, characters and so on. Most of the movies I’ve seen have helped me build a better understanding towards how things should work in a fantasy world. Some non-animated movies have helped me with that too but it seems like there is a lot more to choose from in Anime and it doesn’t just stop all the time.
That’s one of the major differences in anime from usual series. Most animation you find is actually series with an end and a set story with a purpose and direction. Of course there are series that isn’t like this, like Bleach, Naruto and so on. But the majority is a series with a set number of episodes and with a pre-planned story. Something else that’s pretty good is that anime shows never tend to be cancelled. They, might stop it after a while, but then they will create an end for it, Dragonball is one outstanding example.
Something I’ve just found out is that most of the really good stories and series actually are pretty old. I’ve just recently watched some movies from almost twenty years ago and during that time it seems to be a lot of movies with quality, and now I speak in story and characters, not resolution. After about 1991 or around that time it seems to be a fewer and fewer series and movies that are good and you need to start sieve through all the crap to find the good stuff. And since about 2000 the really good ones are brought to the surface by majority and others is just mainstream boring shit that kids in the age from 8-12 watch (and other mindless drones without a life). The reason because there is so much mainstream crap is because a big part of the anime viewers is around the ages of 8-12…
But there is still good series being created out there. It’s only that the amount of crap is about ten times bigger. If you want the same amount of quality that I’m talking about you need to go before 2000 or search through most of the series that’s been released after the year 2000. But that’s so fucking boring that you most likely use the lazy method, you go on tips and search through genres instead or maybe studios. It’s a good way to find something but you will risk missing many good series, but that depends on what you want to get from everything; knowledge, power, entertainment or just waste time?
Best regards,
