Kiddy Game
I know, the title is quite strange but well, it suits pretty well. We have finally played the first session with the kids. This went fairly well though it could have gone better but I can’t have to high demands on the little ones, they need their space to be kids too, even though Rasmus seems to have the intention of leaving childhood pretty soon, haha.
One thing I really like with the kids characters is that they are almost completely normal. This makes it possible to play some usual happenings for a completely normal character. Robert’s characters potentials are so low that he won’t draw attention to himself, not to mention that he actually don’t have any type either. But a class, but that’s not unusual for normal people to have in Nianze. Rasmus is an Orc, which automatically raises the level of the game a little. Being an Orc isn’t funny when everyone consider one a monster, but even if you aren’t considered a monster people will treat you with very high levels of mistrust and suspicion. Many will automatically blame you for most things, even the bad weather. They are evil monstrous magicians after all… or not.
The superstition and prejudice are quite strong in Katia, but even so it’s one of the easiest places for beginners to play in, at least if you want to have fun. The others countries are to dull or to hard to do anything without getting into trouble if you have the same game-style as Robert and Rasmus. Both need to practice to express what they do and especially HOW they do it. But all and all they act on most information of their surroundings. Rasmus is though a little bit too careful with his Orc, which undoubtfully will draw attention. Robert on the other hand… he is to paranoid in his behaviour, but I try to keep it down to slightly above normal, otherwise he’ll get a Disadvantage1.
Today we played a completely regular day in their daily life, they travelled a bit and then they performed a very simple task and I tried to integrate descriptions of the environment as well as of how the people acted though I think that I need to take it in smaller portions than I do with the big group due to the fact that they sometimes – or at least Robert – sometimes seems to stop listening and then interrupt me. But otherwise I think that things are going okay so far, we stray off the path a little but it doesn’t matter, most subjects of those discussions are role-playing unlike the big group when many of the stray subjects are about completely worthless things that don’t even have with RPG to do.
Well, today I’ll try to take it easy and prepare everything for tomorrow. I will have to prepare as much as possible to make the game flow as I want. I also need to go through everything so I don’t miss anything important. However it shall be fun to see if we may notice any changes tomorrow, even though it may be a little bit early to tell.
Best regards,
