Nianze Myths – The Prehistoric Ages – Part I

This is a series of a story-like history for Nianze. It’s meant to be written from the viewpoint of Yurin’s history books. Therefore nothing of this must be true. It’s only the common knowledge on the advanced level. Please read this text as its a story and imagine that this is a fact book and remember that your character1 may not know everything I write here, but mostly this is the common view and this is what the skilled or school-trained person in Yurin knows. But know that a very selected few actually go to school in this world to, so most have a little wicked view of the history and therefore you can, as an example, twist this text and remove some elements if you want to play a character who you don’t imagine to have been around scholars or been to a school of any kind.

Foreword
The prehistorically ages of Yurin are shrouded with mystery and uncertainty. No one actually knows what happened when much of the records and information about everything before The Age of the Apocalypse was lost during the many devastating wars that have actually torn the planet apart. Much of what is known is only built on bits and pieces of the few things they have found from The Demonic Ages. But most of the information is only hypothesises and theory. This record will cover what is known from myth to facts and everything in-between. So let’s start with the most ancient one, shall we?

Chapter One – The Creation
No one really knows anything about the creation. All that is really known is that Vordén2 most likely created it. But, not even that can we be certain of. Vordén is the most powerful being that ever existed on Yurin. How he came into existence is unknown, but the most plausible theory is that he was born from a great swell of energy from the mystical realm of Oblivion3. This theory isn’t so well known throughout the world and most believe that Vordén created everything and that Vordén is eternal, therefore he is everything and has always been. The latter story is supported by the celestials and the other story is even considered abominable in some cultures and countries.

However, it’s believed in both theories that Vordén created everything that exists on Yurin; the nature, the creatures, the laws of nature and the order of things. Nobody knew exactly how powerful he really was but it’s believed that he was almost almighty and all-knowing. Some still do believe that he was almighty and all-knowing. The reason to why people later started to believe that he wasn’t that almighty and all-knowing is due to the fact that he’s believed to be dead, or erased, depending on how you look on it. The last two creations he made were spawns himself, two lesser beings; Gude and Sate. These two later betrayed him, by killing him, if killing is the right world for something that isn’t really alive. Exactly how this happened is unclear. This made some believe that he wasn’t that powerful after all, while others believes that this was his will and that only part of him was destroyed by his two spawns.

Vordén had many forms and actually showed himself to his creations. He was initially a great force of energy that could be seen as a great green light sweeping through the skies and whirling around as a magical wind. Sometimes he possessed animals, trees and other living things. During the age of man he possessed a couple of humans too. Sometimes he just made a great giant that walked around the planet taking care of the mountains and the forests and maintaining the oceans4. When he created Gude and Sate they were red and a yellow smaller forces whirling around in the sky along the great green ones5. They also had mighty voices that could echo through the whole world, though only Vordén was powerful enough to without any medium be able to speak to all of nature over the whole planet.

  1. Mr. Benhard says:

    Hello class!
I am Magister Benhard, welcome to my history class.

This draft was a short summary from the first chapter of History. We plan to cover the whole Prehistory the next couple of weeks. If you have a question, please wave your hand and I’ll answer them as quickly as I can. Please wait to raise your hands until I’ve answered the pending questions. Good.

If this is your first time in this class, please introduce yourself as well before asking your question.

So, any questions on this first chapter?

NOTE: Role-play this in the same manner as above, please.

  2. Erenik says:

    Good day, Magister!
    My name’s Erenik.
I would like to know how this chapter can cover several weeks of our class if there, as you have said, aren’t many findings from these ancient times.

  3. Herid Fel says:

    Good day, Erenik.

Nice of you to be here.

Ah, young lad, it’s not this chapter alone that will occupy our time. It’s the history of the ages before the apocalyptic age we will cover the next few weeks. So its from the creation to the Fire Wars, that is.

    Any other questions?

  4. Erenik says:

    I have another question, magister.
I would like to hear more about the Legend of the Great Caretaker.

  5. Mr. Benhard says:

Erenik, I guessed you mother didn’t read you the stories of the Caretaker when you were a child.

It’s actually many stories about the Great Caretaker, and since it’s a long time since he was last seen there isn’t many today that actually have seen him.

    *Chuckles*

It’s a completely new story actually so I’ll try to keep it brief. The Caretaker was a green great gigant, some stories say that he had the lenght of twelve grown men while others only describe him as about three meters. This have of course made some to speculate that he actually was an orc, which the orcs and some elfs claims. But nobody knows for sure.

In the stories he is often a kind gigant that goes around the world taking care of animals, trees and the nature in whole. In some stories it’s actually said that he could cleanse polluted water or heal broken rocks. It’s also said that the Poison Ocean actually were cleansed by him.

One of the most believed stories about him tells that he is the first preacher of Vordén and the first actual priest in the world, but it’s all hearsay.

    Any more questions?

  6. Felix says:

    *Raises his hand*

    Felix here, Benhard.
I have a question, what kind of idiot would make two weak beings that eventually kills him if you are all-knowing unless you have a plan?

*Yawns loudly while looking through the room for some interesting classmates*

And also have someone ever heard these great echoing voices?

  7. Herid Fel says:

Yes, I can see you Felix.

One shouldn’t call Vordén for an idiot, even though it seems like his own creations turned against him.

Yes, one would think that he could have had a plan, but also that he might have just not foreseen this event. It’s said that nobody really can see the true future and with beings as powerful as Vordén, Gude and Sate maybe it’s the same.

And to call Gude and Sate week beings is very dangerous you know, if you insult them you might die. You can still hear their voices when they wishes to be heard and they still can affect the world directly if they want. The joint powers of Gude and Sate are suspected to be very near the power of Vordén. So I wouldn’t call them weak now when they are the most powerful beings on Yurin.

Another question before we continue to the next chapter?

  8. Agus Neco says:

*A bony finger is raised from somewhere in the back*

So if Gude and Sate were swarming around Vord…
    Oh, sorry sir. I’m Agus.
What I was saying was that if Gude and Sate could be seen in the sky around Vordén. Has anyone seen them nowadays or is that something of the past?

  9. Mr. Benhard says:

    Good day to you Agus.

    *Nods*

I guess it’s not too common nowadays to see them, but most people have seen them at least once in their life. At least if you are above the age of thirty.

You might have seen it, without really thinking of it as Gude or Sate. If you have been to Aguin you would have seen it a great many times, when they mostly swirl around above the Imperial Palace. Thou they are so small compared to Vordén that they mostly seems like beams of light or a great transparent serpent worms made out of threads in many shades of red, in Sates case, or yellow in the case of Gude. But when they are placid they more seem like an aurora mist of stars and can cover the whole sky.

But also know that Gude and Sate nowadays often hides and takes other forms or rather dwell in the Pentapol. But if you are unlucky or call down their wrath they may appear as a big giant to pass judgement on you. This though is very rare and seldom happens, but it has happened and only after Vordéns disappearance.

Later, I will tell you about the celestial promotion, which makes you a half-god. If you succeed with this then you’ll be coroneted by the god which whom you’ll follow the orders from.

Well my lads, it seems like today’s lesson is over. But feel free to ask me any questions about this chapter on the notice-board in the back. Now I want you all to carefully think over today’s lesson and prepare for the next lesson where we’ll go into chapter two, the bygone ages. This is a brief mysterious period, with not much information but we’ll cover whatever there is to cover about it.

    End of class.

    *Ring a Bell*
