Four Short Posts – Number Three
Today’s the day.
And it’s going to happen, again and again.
It has to happen.1
Today the Joint Operation – Number One took place. The small group2 and the big group3 in the same room playing the same scenario adventure together. This experiment was postponed last Saturday due to PB’s sickness and me wanting to spend some quality time with the Forsbergs.
However, it went very well. Ankan died pretty quickly by a fatal hit of numerous scalpels but it was just his bad luck as always when it comes to RPG and death. First off I were a little late with the special-forms for today so we got about two hours behind schedule4 so it was a slow start. But we soon got rolling and playing.
The whole purpose of playing were to simply se how they got along and to observe how much their game-styles changed while playing together. It was also to observe if they could work together and if the young ones were given the space that they should have by the older ones and vice versa. If the kids took their actions instead of waiting and so on, if I’d wanted them to be perfect and playing without regard of age I would have been setting my expectations to high. But they got along pretty well. As for the space-question it was pretty okay. Of course Robert and Rasmus didn’t take as much space as they would have if they were alone, but at least they enjoyed themselves and didn’t completely withdraw their presence.
All and all I’m stratified for our first joint operations5. And I hope that we can improve ourselves to next time. Me with my preparations and social atmosphere and my players with some more focus on giving each other space and play out all the situations a little more… with a flow and not needing my push every time. You need to take action and decide a little faster and answer and formulate your words more direct towards each other if it’s going to work. In a big group, flow is essential for it to work, otherwise we’ll stock up and everything will become slow and boring.
But as I said, good work guys! “Keep it up, right up! Now a question of etiquette, as I pass do I give you the ass or the crotch?”6
Best regards,
Herid Fel
