Mushi-shi

I haven’t really finished watching this series but I felt to write about it a little anyway.
The series are twenty-six completely unrelated episodes so one can see them in any order one like. But the thing I like most about this series right now is the feeling. It’s kind of easy-going mysterious morning anime. Not much action, almost none at all, and they talk an awfully lot.

In some perspective it almost feels like following an hex-doctor’s travel throughout the world and his experiences with various forms of supernatural phenomena. One other thing with this series is that it contains many stories of people’s life. The stories are often sorrowful and sad. Some though are just strange and interesting in their own ways.

And it’s very much nature scenes in it too. Beautifully painted scenes of mountains, forests and fields.

And finally, the opening is wonderful.

Mushi-shi – Ally Kerr – The Sore Feet Song

I walked ten thousand miles, ten thousand miles to see you,
And every gasp of breath I grabbed at just to find you,
I climbed up every hills to get, to you,
I wondered ancient lands to hold, just you.

And every single step of the way, of pain,
Every single night and day,
I searched for you.
Through sandstorms and hazy dawns I reached for you.

I stole ten thousand pounds, ten thousand pounds to see you,
I robbed convenient stores coz I thought they’d make it easier.
I lived off rats and toads, and I starved for you.
I fought off giants bears and I killed them too.

And every single step of the way, of pain,
Every single night and day,
I searched for you.
Through sandstorms and hazy dawns I reached for you.
I’m tired and I’m weak, but I’m strong for you.
I wanna go home, but my love gets me through.

Lalala…

It’s a very good song for just this series. The main charater, Ginko, is always walking when he travels around. I also like the song because it somewhat reminds me of my life and reflects upon myself. And like earlier mentioned, songs that I can relate to are songs I like.
