Class Descriptions
Nianze have ten major classes; Druid, Hannje, Healer, Hiresword, Holy Warrior, Kremis, Magician, Priest, Tyniker and Warrior. But of course you already knew that.
However, in the past few months I have been updating a lot, and preparing for a new faith system, which means that the faith in the divine is very important for the whole Yurin. Not only for the people, but also for the classes (not to mention Holy Warrior and Priest), the faith will play a major part in their ways.
This doesn’t necessarily means that it MUST be like that, but that it’s often like that and those who defy it will be considered as a strange and a heathen, not liked by the society, not to mention by the gods themselves and the divine classes.
However, more about the way of each class so a short description of what I want the classes to be like, even thou some players not agree with this, this is the way I have imagined them and if the players have gotten the wrong picture of them I’m open for discussion about why and try to fix it.
So here we go…
The Druid
The wanderers of the nature, the druid often lives in the bushes amongst the wildlife and close to the real nature. They value the way of Agusi, the goddess of nature and life, and tries to follow her path throughout their life. Druids also have the extraordinary ability to summon their soul in form of an animal to fight alongside with them in battle. Druids sometimes travel for the great adventure, and for the sake of getting the favor of Agusi so they can meet her and climb in the Gaia Tree, the tree of life. It’s also been said that the Adventurer that gains Agusis favor get a special gift.
Except for their animal companion they also can work as healers, creating healing powder to counteract poisons as well as healing minor damage.
A druid in the society is often forgotten or put aside and in the major cites their ability to pull out their soul is often suspended or forbidden to use.
The Hannje
The hannje is a multifaceted class that is known for their vigorous moves as well for they great talent in play and song. They travel the world around to gather tales, create tales, and just to perform at halls, party’s and in common rooms allover Yurin. They are a playful class that loves having a good time, and makes the most out of it. The Hannje often follow the way of Gorendez, the god of coincides and happiness.
One of the most common goals for them is to perform at the Magnificent Magical Hall in the Core or The Royal Court Hall in Meno. Otherwise one of the Lemer’s and the Forer’s Circus suit them well.
The life of a Hannje is pretty tough. In the beginning of their career they have to work a lot for almost nothing in return and many of them are addicted to games which easily lead to a total disaster. It’s not uncommon for a Hannje to be abused by bartenders, party hosts and Innkeepers. And the most horrible thing than can happened for a Hannje is that they have to start from the beginning again when loosing everything, if this happened they call it “The Great Reset”, which they often see as a bad joke from Gorendez side.
The Healer
A healer is needed all over the world, and being needed, they often do what they do for a price. The best healers in the world are those from Meno and Aguin, where they have the Royal Academy and The Imperial University where they have the best healers in the world. Healers are often calm and precise, as they need to be in their profession. Ready to make the fast decisions that determines life or death in an instant. One thing that the most healers have in common is that they are Ki Users because that Ki uses the bodies own energy as well as the healers to heal the wounds. Therefore the best White Healers comes from Aguin where the knowledge of Ki is the best.
In the later years of Sanzen, just before the first war in the Danzen era Sancho came up with the idea of Reversed healing, that they called Black Healing, and when the war begun, they sent their first newly trained Black Healers to practice this new kind of anti-healing to destroy body parts as well to stop the heart and lungs during the war. As a result both the Academy and the University were forced to practice this as well to train their own Black Healers and to develop ways to counteract their damage.
Healers are divided into two groups, Combat Healers and Profit Healers. The Profit Healers often follow the way of Amén or Vallín while the Combat Healers often follow the way of Agusi or Janus. It’s not uncommon for both kind of healers to worship Janus, the god of Bone and Body.
The Hiresword
One of the most proficient fighters and most fearsome dualists you can find all over Yurin. They are cocky, sturdy and very, very self-confident. They are actually Mercenaries or Sword for Hire but call them selves Hireswords, which lately is what everyone calls them. They are unpredictable and they have a wide variation of skills which make them hard to counter. Hireswords have all different ways of functioning and different gods they follow but one thing most of them have in common is they greed for adventure, gold and fame, not to mention the legendary goals of Immortality and eternal youth. Yurin is a mystical world, and the Hireswords think that the world is theirs for the taking, and they act accordingly, running around unraveling every mystery they can find without any consideration what damage that may do for the rest of the inhabitants of the planet.
In short, they are a carefree meddlesome class with no sense for what is and what isn’t safe.
Hireswords can be found in every religion, country, culture and Government. Being so flexible and often greedy for money, many tend to use them to do their dirty work. One of the most well known Mercenary Organization for Hireswords is The Eye, the Famous Multi Government organization that has authority almost as strong as a country by them selves.
Holy Warrior
As the more combatant of the two Divine classes the Holy Warriors premier task is to protect and fight for their god and their country. Besides that many Holy Warriors seek up demonic artifacts and monsters to annihilate those that the Gods missed before they became gods. Besides this the Holy Warriors have all different tasks and objectives depending on which Government they are under and which era they are in. Now in the era of the third war, the Government Objectives has yet to be decided. Holy Warriors are most common in Aguin, and therefore most of them follow the word of the Pentapol, the Holy Palace, and the word of the Emperor, who is the most holy person, and even considered a mysterious half-god that few have seen and even fewer have met in person, that they know of. For all Holy Warriors meeting and protecting the Emperor is a dream that would be almost as pleasant as seeing a god.
Holy Warriors is one of the oldest classes after the Priests on Yurin. They are discovers of Ki they also are considered the best Ki Users in the world, often using their knowledge and power to hunt down magicians, Demon spawns and Magical Artifacts. They are also used as a Special Task Force by the governments for their own purposes as well as for the divine goals of the Gods.
The Kremis
An agent of shadow and deception, the Kremis works as an agent for different reasons. They can be conspirators as well as assassins and thieves. They are a deadly enemy that if you aren’t ready can bring the end of almost anyone. Being a class that uses some dark, and by some considered, black arts, they are often disliked but in the same way needed by many organizations and countries. A common adventure group often wants a Kremis to scout for them and save them out of tight spots so while being mistrusted and disliked they are on the same time wanted and needed of all. The Kremis is a mystical class, developed on the horrible Isle of Sancho, where outlaws rule and murder and theft is a common thing no one cares about. In the beginning Sancho were a place where all the unwished people fled under the power greedy warlord Brémo, but in the end they ended up to turn against each other.
Due their brutal, but discrete, nature a Kremis often follow the god of night and darkness, which once were Sanchos ruler, Brémo. And for most Kremis’ it’s impossible to follow another god without being punished.
The Magician
From the beginning they were just priests experimenting, trying to find a new alternate source for power without the need to praise the gods all the time. At this time priest worshipped Gude, Vórden and Sate and not the half goods, whom still not had been raised to their divine positions. One of these priest were actually Vallín, then a High Priestess of the Temple of Sate and one of the secret admirers of the Demonic Priest, that back then were hated and hunted by most of the priests. When discovering the magical source, they had to flee from the Holy Land, Aguin to Meno, where they continued their research until they finally left Meno, and created an isle in the middle of the world where they found the Flow, the magical concentration point where the magic was thicker than anywhere in the world.
Magicians are religious priests, which use magic to control, manipulate and change the world around them. Everyone is based on reality and if reality is changeable, why shouldn’t we change it? Magicians follow their former leader Vallín, the goddess of magic and energy. Using magic to almost everything they have weakened their bodies in exchange for closer contact with The Great Source, or The Flow. Magicians are often arrogant and think that they are the most powerful class in Yurin, but this isn’t the whole truth, even thou the magicians are one of the most powerful classes, they need time, and energy to do what they do, and when either of those fails, they are like fish on land, an easy target.
The Priest
The most divine class, the Priests main task is to follow the word of the gods and to change the world for the better. Being almost directly directed by one directive from a god the Priests is almost like the Holy Warrior, always full of things they need to do to satisfy both their gods and the governments. Priests work with their god’s goals, as well as for the government and their country’s, and this include preaching for as many as possible, converting disbeliever to the right way, purging the demonic artifacts, defeating the Demon Spawns and to cleanse the world from all evil. Being able to heal, summon armors and various other useful things priests are often considered as good travel partners. A priest is also they only ones able to perform the divine rituals and sermons, which is useful for everyone who is under the influence of the gods, which everyone should be, otherwise they are heathen and need to be converted, killed or locked in until they rotten. For believers the sermons are beneficial for all in a adventure group and therefore a priest is needed, and being needed is exactly what they want to be, being able to influence the world in the name of their god they often go on a so called “Great Pilgrimage” for a chance to influence the world and spread the word of the gods. One of the greatest goals for a priest is the “Pilgrimage of Supreme Divinity” which leads to the Pentapol itself where they will be baptized by the Archbishops and hopefully, they will even be a able to see their own god.
The Tyniker
Tyniker is considered the maddest, crazy and weird classes of all in Yurin, dealing with both, magic, technical and chemic matters. They literary are known to blow away themselves as well as the ones around themselves. They work with the ancient arts of the Techno-magical Machines and try to discover the secrets as well as developing new ways to use it. They have also discovered the depths of Alchemy and how to use it to mix up poisons, drugs and herbs to use them to heal, or in bombs. They are a dangerous class, and not only for others, but for themselves as well. They also try to extend the use of magic for regular people that aren’t magicians. Trying to mix magic with technology as well as just developing magic abilities for all to use, magicians often use Tynikers as their researches but they like them as much as they dislike them. To have a Tyniker around isn’t safe for anyone and after they developed a way to put up a anti-magic field where magicians have some difficulties to use magic they have been even more disliked by magicians.
Tyniker haven’t really a god that stands in their favor, but most Tyniker likes risks, and experimenting with things. Therefore most of them follow Gorendez, the god of confidents and happiness. But it’s not uncommon for a Tyniker to follow some of the other gods.
One of the Tyniker’s biggest common goals is to get into the Tynical Research Center in Katia, where their achievements will be able to change the world. And having a invention to change the world, is a dream every Tyniker wish came true.
The Warrior
Warriors are the most common class all over the world. Being used as Guards in every city, village, town, or even the smallest camp they are the most needed as well as the easiest class to find. Warriors are simple, but simple don’t mean they aren’t dangerous or useful on the contrary they are probably one of the most useful, dangerous, flexible and most wanted class of all. They may not be as proficient as the Hiresword in close combat, or as powerful as the Magicians or as sneaky as the Kremis. But they can be as deadly if they want. Being one of the best on archery and with the fury of their Berserk they can inflict almost as much damage as the other classes. Or at least render their opponents harmless in almost the same time.
Many warriors follow the way of Comén, the god of stone and steel, Mars, the goddess of fire and strength, or Fergos, the god of water and will. This is because that the best warriors often come from the fortresses of Deben, the icy plains of Icea or the hot desert of Taraien. Just because of this warriors from these countries are called Steelwarriors, Icewarriors and Firewarriors. The Marksmen of Aguin and Katia are good warriors to, but not as well known as the other three.
And that as they say, is that…
